Paul William Nygren, age 64, of Roseville, MN, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2025. Born in Bloomington, Paul was a brilliant problem-solver, builder, and craftsman. He worked in electrical engineering, contracting, and various trades, always pursuing his passion for fixing, creating, and perfecting. He could build a house from the ground up and took immense pride in his meticulous craftsmanship.

Paul’s life was not without struggles, including his battle with alcoholism, yet he was deeply loved. His sharp wit, his humor (sometimes unfiltered), and passion for science fiction, cars, and technology made him unforgettable. He was the go-to person for construction or technical advice, and he cherished working on projects with his kids. His impact remains in the knowledge he shared, the homes he built, and the memories his family & friends hold.

Paul is survived by his father, Herbert Nygren; his brother, Dave Nygren; his children, Deanna Greyoak and Jason Hawkins; and his grandson, Flynn. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Nygren.

He will be deeply missed.

I grew up with Paul as our moms went to high school together. We spent lots of summer weeks at the cabin running around, swimming and boating. He would get so frustrated with my sister and me as lots of times we were holed up inside with our Harlequin romances! Paul was lucky enough to escape the dreaded Sun In experiment one summer when we used it on David’s hair which turned orange blonde! I always greatly admired Paul’s brilliance and creativity. He wired the electricity for our cabin and I remember him crafting a boat from scratch. Even the last few years that creativity would emerge at times. I loved Paul and he will be missed. I know he is experiencing great peace and wholeness now in the arms of his Savior. I am praying for you, his family, as you navigate his loss and your grief journey. May God grant you great peace and comfort!
