Nancy was my oldest and dearest friend. She was two years older then myself and we met in our early twenties while studying in the library at Camosun College. Shortly thereafter we became roommates in a old house on Gladstone Street where we had a good Ole time until both of us got evicted because my Siamese cat peed down the furnace vent on the owners downstairs who would walk around naked most of the day with bedsheets wrapped around themselves. After that we had each small housekeeping rooms in a shared house where most of us in the house were mediators. Nancy later went on to become a teacher of TM (transcendental meditation) and attended courses in Switzerland. Later on she met her to be husband Greg and I had the honor of being a bridesmaid at her wedding afterwards they traveled to England for their honeymoon. Nancy had her son Devon nine months later and by that time they were living in Trail, BC...returning to the West Coast they spent a great portion ot their working professional years living in Surrey BC. before moving to Victoria Nancy and Greg's hometown. My relationship with Nancy was very special to both of us. We could communicate from a distance intuitively with both of us reaching for the telephone at the same time to chat with one another. We loved taking walks together in nature or sharing a meal at home or in a restaurant. Attending Farmer's Market or music festivals such as Mission Folk Music Festival was another great favorite. Politics played a part in our lives too as we were both advocates for liberty, freedom and human rights. Nancy was a great emotional support for myself when my Mother passed in Fall of 2017 and when my Dad passed near Christmas in 2018 with a Brother passing twelve days later after Dad. I can never forget that it was Nancy who got down on her knees to place my Mother's cremated remains (urn) in the open plot at Pender Island cemetery as I was unable to do it myself due to arthritis. That was the nature and personality of Nancy...selfless, loving and passionate about life. A part of me..not really gone..always together in Spirit.
