August 31st, 1952 - July 4th, 2024
August 31st, 1952 - July 4th, 2024
NANCY KAY BARTON, 71, of Mineral Wells, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 4th; she gained her angel wings and went to her heavenly home.
Nancy was born on August 31st, 1952, the daughter of the late Theodore, Jr. and Marilyn Jane Sheppard. She was a graduate of Parkersburg South High School with the class of 1970. Nancy was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she served as a Director of Kids Hope through the church at Mineral Wells Elementary School. Nancy loved mentoring kids and it was a great passion of hers. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a bankruptcy specialist after almost 35 years of service.
Nancy was the most loving, compassionate little lady who had the biggest heart. She loved her family so much and loved being the old-fashioned grandma type by putting on her apron to cook and bake for the grandkids. Nancy loved family cookouts where she made her campfire stew at her home acreage in Mineral Wells. Nancy enjoyed puzzles, cross-stitching, word search books, country drives, and watching old westerns. Nancy’s greatest passion was her family and grandkids.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Dan Barton, who was blessed to have spent the last 27 years with his angel; her loving children, Jessica Thomas of Mineral Wells, Jason (Nicole) Barton of Parkersburg, and Kristen (Joey) Anthony of Pittsboro, NC; grandchildren Carter (Mackenzie) Grogan, Kyle Grogan of Mineral Wells, and Abby Thomas who was the twinkle in her grandma’s eyes of Mineral Wells. The Barton trio Peyton, Ava, and Jozy of Parkersburg. Great-grandsons Gage Parsons, Maddox, and Colton Grogan all of Mineral Wells. Nancy is also survived by her brother Robert (Deb) Sheppard of Mineral Wells, and her sisters Joann (Gary) Hardin of Davisville, and Sharon (Dennis) Bird of Boothwyn, PA; special friends Pastor Steve Gedon and wife Linette, Carol Ann Martin, Pat and Deb Thompson, her church family, her Cracker Barrel family, and her considered adopted daughter Ashley Drake. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Camden Clark and the Hospice team for their compassion and care. A private memorial service will be held at a later date and donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells in memory of Nancy.
A private cremation will take place at Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.
She will be missed by all.
