Richard Marshall, better known as Mr. Marshall, was amongst the Bajan "pioneers" who arrived in the Cayman Islands around 1972 as a teacher and truly was an integral part in the education and mentorship of many to those who interacted with him.
He was very instrumental at some point in our lives.
He was a phenomenal teacher in middle school and was a great supporter of sports days. He was awesome at many things that he did to encourage others. His efforts to educate us to be the best that we can be will never be forgotten.
Over the years Mr. Marshall:
- Taught English and Spanish at the High School level
- Was House Leader and English teacher at Middle School
- Principal at Creek Primary School (Cayman Brac)
- Principal at George Town Primary
- Principal at East End Primary
In 1988 he started his own photo studio with his family - we now know the studio as Photo Plus! He had a sense of humour and was always telling jokes and laughing long and heartily. He also had the stern / teacher side to him!
The wonderful memories of being blessed with someone who took pride and care in taking the perfect and beautiful pictures of babies, Christmas, or any occasion will be missed.
- He was a founding member of what was known as the Pee Wee soccer league
- Was an outstanding batsman with the Cayman National Cricket team
- An honoree of the 2018 Heroes Day awards for his contribution to sports
- He was a national football mentor to many
- Member - Kiwanis Club of Tropical Gardens
His family describes him as a man of principle and always a giver, expecting nothing in return. His kindness and love to many of us will never be forgotten for all that he has done for us in the community and in our lives. May his soul rest in peace.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to Rohan Marshall and family for the loss of a wonderful man. He was my school principal at George Town Primary and a great one too. He was a great supporter of sports days. Mr. Marshall believed in my athletic ability when I didn’t. He was very instrumental in ensuring my PE teacher took the time to give me extra training, which at the time was by Mr. Ronnie Roach. The rest became history. He was also a phenomenal teacher in middle school, always knowing how to put a smile on your face and taking the time to listen to his students' concerns. His efforts to educate me and others to be the best we can be with love and kindness will never be forgotten. I will cherish the wonderful memories of being blessed with someone who took pride in taking the perfect and beautiful pictures of babies, Christmas, graduations, or any occasion. They will be missed. In fact, Mr. Marshall was the only person who could take the perfect photo and make someone look special every time. Gone but never forgotten for all that he has done for us in the community and in our lives. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Donna Stevens - Ramoon
