How did you meet Mrs. Modupe?

ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED NATIONAL EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL STAFF OF NIGERIA (ARNECSON) TRIBUTE TO LATE MRS MARY MODUPE ADESOLA Good evening, esteemed family members, dear friends, cherished colleagues, and all who have gathered here this evening for this solemn wake-keeping. It is with a heavy heart and deep sense of loss that we come together to remember and honor our beloved colleague, Mrs. Modupe Mary Adesola—Mama Modupe to so many of us—who peacefully transitioned to glory in 2025. When the news reached me, it felt like the ground shifted beneath us. Mama Modupe was not just a colleague; she was a pillar of grace and wisdom in our workplace, a gentle yet powerful presence whose influence extended far beyond the tasks we shared. She brought light into every room she entered, and her departure leaves an irreplaceable void. Mama Modupe was, in every sense, a rare gem. Her extraordinary grace was evident in the way she carried herself—always calm, always composed, even in the midst of challenges. Her uncommon wisdom guided us through difficult decisions; she had a way of offering advice that was never forceful, yet always profound and spot-on. And her boundless love? It enveloped everyone around her. Whether it was a word of encouragement during a tough project, a listening ear when someone was struggling, or a simple act of kindness like sharing a meal or checking in on a colleague’s family, she showed us what it truly means to care deeply. She embodied virtue in action. In our professional environment, where pressures can sometimes test our patience and character, Mama Modupe stood as a tower of strength. She never compromised her integrity, and her quiet dignity inspired us all to strive for better. Her infectious smile could lift the heaviest mood; even on the most demanding days, that warm, genuine smile reminded us that joy could still be found in the everyday. Her unwavering faith was the foundation of everything she did. As a devoted child of God, she lived her testimony daily—through selfless service, generosity of heart, and deep devotion not only to her family and community but also to her colleagues whom she treated like extended family. She was a true matriarch, not just at home but among us, offering hospitality that made our workplace feel more like a community of care. Though she has left our physical presence, the legacy she built endures. The lessons she taught us—about kindness, resilience, faith, and love—will continue to guide our actions and decisions. Every time we choose compassion over haste, wisdom over ego, or service over self, we honor her memory. Her enduring love lives on in the hearts she touched, including mine. To her beloved family—her children, grandchildren, siblings, and all who were closest to her heart—please know that we share in your grief. We cannot fully comprehend the depth of your loss, but we stand with you in sorrow and in gratitude for the gift of having known her. May the Lord, whom she served so faithfully, grant you comfort, strength, and the peace that surpasses all understanding. To my fellow colleagues: let us not only mourn but celebrate. Let us carry forward the light she so generously shared. Let her example challenge us to be better—to love more openly, to serve more selflessly, and to live with the same quiet dignity and unwavering faith that defined her. Mama Modupe, thank you. Thank you for the privilege of working alongside you, for the wisdom you imparted, for the laughter we shared, and for the love you gave so freely. Your gentle spirit touched us all, and though we say goodbye for now, we hold fast to the hope of reunion in eternity. Rest in perfect peace, dear Mama Modupe. Your work on earth is done, and well done it was. We love you, we miss you, and we will never forget you. May her soul rest in the bosom of the Lord. Thank you. COMRADE GEORGE C. A loving mother and grandmother leaves behind a legacy that lives on in the hearts she touched. She was the steady presence, the gentle voice, the one whose love made everything feel safe and possible. Her kindness showed in the smallest gestures and the biggest sacrifices, always putting family first without ever asking for recognition. As a mother, she gave unconditional love, guidance, and strength. As a grandmother, she brought joy, laughter, and a special kind of magic that only she could create. Her home was a place of comfort, her words a source of wisdom, and her embrace a reminder that we were deeply loved. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on in the values she taught, the memories she created, and the love she shared so freely. She will forever be remembered, deeply missed, and endlessly cherished.

Tribute to the Late Mrs. Modupe Adesola Sleep on, Mama Adesola, as you were fondly called in my family. There are three categories of people one must have in life to avoid being derailed: 1. Destiny helpers 2. Destiny connectors 3. Burden bearers. Late Mrs. Modupe Adesola embodied all these qualities. Together with her husband, she supported my ministry quietly and consistently as a silent giver. In the early years of my ministry, I pastored a church that began in their home. The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Rehoboth Parish, Oyo. Today, that church stands as the Provincial Headquarters in Oyo State. Nigeria. Throughout my stay there, Mama Adesola and her husband stood firmly by me with unwavering support. In 2007, when God blessed my family with a bungalow at Ladigbolu, Oyo, Oyo State, Nigeria, Mama Adesola and her husband supplied several buckets of paint for the house. I later diverted those same supplied paints to paint the house of God that I led the building procedures, - The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Greater Works Parish, Oke Balogun, Oyo, Oyo State, Nigeria let alone with additional financial support they provided. In 2013, while serving as Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus Embassy, Oyo, Mama Adesola and her husband continued their silent but impactful support towards building God’s work untill the house was dedicated. Again, in 2019, during my tenure as Zonal Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jubilee Parish, Araromi, Oyo, they stood by me faithfully in advancing the work of God untill another building was dedicated. Beyond ministry, during seasons when I was searching for meaningful employment, Mama Adesola and her husband remained by my side through difficult and uncertain times. Despite the differences in age and social status, Mama Adesola and her husband humbled themselves, identified with my family, and related with us as equals. She was a great confidant and advisor to my wife. Whiles she was in Canada for vacations, we spoke and agreed to meet in Oyo for the burial service of my late father in-law scheduled for January 8th and 9th, 2026, unaware that Mama Adesola would be laid to rest barely two weeks after that event. Writing this tribute has been very difficult, as my heart remains heavy with grief. Nevertheless, the good works she rendered to God and to humanity will follow her and continue to speak on her behalf. Mama Modupe Adesola, sleep on until we meet again, to part no more. Dr. S. K. Olugbenro for the family. Canada 🇨🇦

Big Mummy, I’m so sorry that I’m writing to you so late. I think a big part of me still can’t believe this is real. I’ve been kind of pushing it to the back of my mind because I don’t want to face the reality that you’re gone. I think there are statements we say all the time, like, “No one is guaranteed tomorrow”, but we don’t truly understand how true that is until we experience it. I don’t ask God why, why it had to be you. I don’t think that would help, it won’t bring you back. I just miss you so much, I wish I could speak to you one more time. I wish I called you more. I don’t remember that much from growing up but I remember we would fight a lot because I was so stubborn and you never played about that, you were super strict. I’m sure I never liked hearing that you and big daddy were coming over because I knew I had to be on my best behaviour but now I would give anything to have you come stay over with us one more time. You were so loving and so kind and so warm. I’m so so so grateful to God for putting you in our lives. I’m o grateful to God that every single year I came home I was able to see you and spend time with you and talk to you and laugh with you. I’m so grateful that I know you’re in a better place and I’m so grateful that I know that we will be reunited one day. You have given me the most wonderful aunt’s and uncle and my sweet nieces and nephews. You’ve done so much for us. God bless you and reward you. I love you forever Big Mummy

Your contribution to the success of the School 60th year Anniversary was highly commendable, your calls to me personally as the President before and after the celebration is hereby acknowledged. I can say loudly that the progress of the School was paramount in your mind from your words of encouragement I always received from you. You protected me during our stay in the School, you took me as your blood brother because of having the same Surname – Siyanbola. With this, I escaped many punishments from the Seniors. Aunty Dupe thank you for your love, your protection, you were more than a Sister to me. Words will never be enough to express or quantify what you meant and still to the Association.
