Loved Ones

“and think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched…for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.” -His Journey’s Just Begun, By Ellen Brennerman

Milton Raymond Morris, affectionately known as “Yummy” to those closest to him, was born in Kingston Jamaica on January 5, 1964 to parents George and Lorna Morris.  He migrated to America in February of 1970, at the age of 6 with his father and siblings, Andrenette and Chris, at which time he re-united with mom, who had migrated earlier to create a better life for her family.

Milton grew up in Manhattan, New York in a very close-knit family settings that included not only parents and siblings, but cousins, aunts, and uncles living all under one roof on Edgecombe avenue in Manhattan.  The bond between Milton and his family was unbreakable and the family was inseparable.

Milton attended Public School 186 in Manhattan which eventually became Public School 153    He then went on to Robert F Kennedy Middle school; thereafter, following an interest in the Arts, attended The High School of Fashion Industries.  It is at The High School of Fashion Industries that Milton met his first love Kimberly Garrison who would ultimately become his wife and mother of his children.

Milton met Kimberly in 1982 through his cousin Collette “Mitzie” Ramsay who was also attending the same high school.  They became best friends and lifelong partners, then husband and wife on January 5, 2004.  Milton and Kim blessed the earth with three beautiful daughters, Munirah Morris (age 23), Kimarah Morris (age 20) and Ayanna Morris (age 18).  The love he had for his girls transcended beyond words.

Milton was a keen businessman and through several entrepreneurial business ventures he was not only able to provide a great life for his family but was also able to be a help to MANY…. family, friends, neighbors, etc.  Milton was a giver, and everyone knew that they could call on him in times of need.  He had a big heart that extended beyond boundaries.  He was a true. reliable, and sustainable friend to all that knew him Most importantly, He was a family man! He adored his daughters and their mom. He loved his mother who he spoke with daily several times of the day, and his dad who he would visit often in New City, NY.   His sisters and brother (who unfortunately passed away a few years earlier) knew that they could call on Milton at any time and when they did, he would ALWAYS be there.

Milton was called home on January 29, 2021.  He will be gravely missed by ALL.  He leaves behind his wife, Kimberly Morris; his daughters Munirah Morris, Kimarah Morris, and Ayanna Morris; his parents George Morris and Lorna Morris, his stepmom Paulette Morris; his sisters Andrenette Morris, Simone Morris, Audrey Morris, Lavern Young, and Marcia Gordon; nephews Oneil Johnson, Khalid Morris and Gary Gordon; nieces Brittany Johnson, Shania Brady, DeAnna Gordon, and Simone Young; uncles, aunts, and many cousins.

Milton

I did not know Milton very well but only from a brief conversation in a Limo ride. We met briefly during the ride headed to my grandaunt Aunty Momtul funeral, which was his Aunty Millicent, he heard my name and mention to me that his name was also Milton, which I found kind of odd because I thought I was the only one in the family with the name and now Milton was talking to Milton. But I learned that day that he was the first Milton so I called him Milton the first. That day he went on to talk about my grandmother Ms. Doris and mentioned that she was one of his favorite Aunts and that she didn't put up with anyone's bs and he loved that about her. Right there and then I knew we were related, we were cousins, but most of all I could tell that Milton was a family man. He was about family regardless of distance, time or space, or whether they've ever met, and that is a rear thing to find in any family. Not all family members would have done that, some would deny you, pretend like they don't care to know you or even go as far as to ignore you, but not Milton the first. Milton's heart and mind seemed very genuine. The best of us are always taken from us first as God need to replenish his ranks of Angels to fight the good fight. Milton and others like him are the one's who TRULY have a key to the doo to the Kingdom Of Heaven, and all he had to be was himself, a man with a good heart. God bless you and keep you and your family in his good graces fam. This family has lost another great one, but Heaven has inherited another General amongst the ranks.
