From Jane Williams, cousin on Mike's dad's side: "I know it will be a lovely day. Bitter and sweet! I pray for you and the kids daily as I can't imagine how hard things must feel at times. He was an awesome man, proud to be his cousin! I always remember when Michael was little … as he had the most gorgeous eyes and his eyelashes were so long they hit his glasses. He was always so nice and kind and always looking out for everyone. A very special guy and I'm glad you had so many happy years together. "

Mike and I go back to the early 90's when we met at Oshkosh. The friendship was cemented immediately and the ensuing antics and shenanigans over the years are cherished. From the "appropriation" of transportation (golf carts), to aerial assaults' on Disneyworld and our annual early morning tour of the Warbird line at Sun N Fun in a top down convertible with Flight of the Valkyries blaring, we had amazing times together. We always amazed at Mike's incredible eye for composition, we particularly enjoyed his black & white photography. The world was a brighter place for your presence and a little dimmer with your departure. You are one class act my friend, I hope to see you again soon.

I first met Mike when I was working at Microsoft, and we had a big meeting at AOPA. As the Flight Simulator Content Lead, I had access to AOPa materials, coordinatwd through Mike. We hit it off instantly, and developed a strong friendship across the miles. We shared more than a few glasses, told lots of stories, and just had a great time together. I'm so glad I got to see Mike and the Collins family in my beloved Montana a few years back, and could share the love of huckleberries! Mike, I think about you often, and send peace to your family. Save a cold one for mez and I'll see you when I get there. Cheers, -Kit Warfield

From Charlotte Teagle 6/12/22 I will always remember my dear friend Mike. I can still hear his laugh and smell his ‘coffee breath'. We had to be up early at the seminars for the contest judging, and since I don't drink coffee, he called me Coca Cola breath. What fun we had!

I remember vividly, Mike sitting in his office behind stacks and stacks of magazines and books. In fact, as I would visit him and sit down, he'd almost dissapear from sight because of this. I could see him moving the computer mouse while holding his arm up over the stacks to find a flat surface:) Have great memories of working with Mike, he was such a good friend and person. Miss him dearly.
