Today, I stand here to honor and remember my brother, Michael V. Thompson. Although life took us down different roads and we didn’t know each other as closely as some brothers do, he was still my family. And family holds a place in the heart that neither time nor distance can diminish. Michael lived many roles in his lifetime. He was a brother, a father, and a grandfather—roles that each carry their own kind of love, responsibility, and pride. And even if not all of us knew every part of his life, we know these roles shaped the man he became. Michael was someone with a curious and dedicated mind. He spent much of his life working with technology—a field that demands patience, a willingness to keep learning, and a steady hand. That tells you something about him: he cared about solving problems, understanding how things worked, and making life a little smoother for the people around him. But what I admire most, and what speaks volumes about his character, is the way he cared for our elderly mother in his final years. Caring for a parent is an act of deep love. It takes strength, compassion, and a quiet devotion that often goes unseen. Yet Michael carried that responsibility with heart. He was there for her, offering comfort, presence, and support when she needed it most. Even though we didn’t share as many moments as some brothers might, I recognize the goodness in the life he lived. I honor the man he was—the brother I grew up with, the father and grandfather who loved his family in his own way, and the son who remained faithful and caring to the end. Today, as I say goodbye, I do so with respect and gratitude. May Michael rest in peace, and may his memory remind us all of the strength found in quiet dedication, in love shown through actions, and in the bonds of family that last beyond this life.

Tribute to the late Michael Thompson. I met Michael in the early 1990s at the College of Arts Science and Technology, now the University of Technology, where we both were pursuing our first degree in Electrical engineering. I usually admire his neatness, attentiveness and his quick understanding of the course materials, to put it bluntly Michael was a very bright student. Fast forward to the 2000s, my son Chad was attending the Caribbean Maritime Institute, and on Sundays I would visit him, one day he asked me if I could pick up his girlfriend to visit him at the college, while travelling with her I asked her name and she proudly said her name is Terisa Thompson, I then said to her I had a friend from college whose name was Michael Thompson she then said that’s my Dad, what a coincidence. Chad and Teri got married years later so no longer friends but family. This strengthened the bond between both of us. On occasions when we meet we would have discussions on just about any topic. He was a very devoted father & Christian and this was manifested in our various discussions. He loved his family immensely. His sudden passing was indeed a shock as he was not known to be ill. To quote a few words from Gramps Morgan – People Like You I've heard up there the streets are made of gold And when you get there, there's a hand to hold I believe when your days down here are through There's a place up there for people like you. Michael, my brother, you are gone but will never be forgotten your memory will linger in our hearts for ever and ever, may your soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine on you. Sleep well in the peace of Christ. Warren Taylor

Michael Thompson was a man of many talents, determination and a will of steel but was fun going and loving at the same time. A man loved by many and impacted all who he knew and left many unforgettable memories. He will be dearly missed.

Tommy was a good son and father. He would help me in any way he can. It's sad that he is not with us anymore. My son Michael Thompson was mother and father for his 4 children. He gave them a good education. He even employed someone to help him take care of them when they were young. He was a business man and worked very hard into the long hours of the night. It's deeply sad that he passed away so suddenly and so young . I always thought it would have been better if he had someone living with him after this wife passed . I can’t believe It's too late now. I'm sad that he is gone. Good bye my son. - Eula Chang Mother

Tribute to Michael Thompson My admiration for you always went a notch up on the many occasions when Terisa would recount as a devoted father how, you raised her and her siblings, the stories were always interesting and fascinating to me. We see the evidence of your dedicated work . Michael, as a devoted mentor to many young men, you inspired countless individuals to reach their full potential, may your legacy live on through the lives you touched. Your love for family gatherings and lively conversation will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. You were truly a remarkable human being, gone too, too soon. Rest in peace. Patricia Taylor

What is your favorite memory shared with Michael?
I met Mr. Thompson through his daughter, Teresa. It was always a joy to hear her speak about him—not just as her father, but tenderly, as “her Daddy.” Every little girl needs to know that her daddy is in her corner, especially throughout childhood. Teri deeply loved her Dad and spoke often about the profound influence his fathering had on her. The guidance he provided and the boundaries he set have clearly served her well in her adult years. I had the distinct honor of spending time with Mr. Thompson on two special occasions: at Teri’s wedding and during the last birthday she celebrated with him. He was wonderful company. I will sincerely miss his big smile, the one that shone with such unmistakable pride whenever he looked at his daughter.
