Thank you to all who attended our virtual memorial service.

On August 14, 2020 Michael David Cuda, 72, fell asleep in death at home after suffering from an illness under the loving care of his wife, Miriam.

He was born on October 30, 1947, to Steve and Catherine Cuda in Portland, Oregon.  He grew up with his four siblings Steve Cuda III, Penny Reynders, Peggy Thomas, and Barbara Orleman.

He dedicated his life to Jehovah by water baptism on September 17, 1960.  He would be invited to serve as a volunteer at the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn, New York in June of 1966 where he would serve in the shipping/trucking department from 1966 to 1971, a privilege of service he spoke fondly of his entire life. He often encouraged others to reach out for this special privilege of service.

In the summer of 1971 he would travel to attend a district convention in Atlanta, Georgia where he met his future wife, Miriam Santamarina. They were married on April 15, 1972 and went on to enjoy 48 wonderful years together.  They would settle in the town of Hialeah, Florida and raise their four children there.  The Cuda family’s annual trips to Oregon resulted in a close relationship with their extended family there and developed in them the same love Mike had for his beautiful home state.

In his life, Mike and his wife and children enjoyed many warm friendships and traveled to many places, including Ecuador, Chile, England, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, various islands in the Caribbean and U.S. Virgin Islands, along with many cities and states in the United States. A highlight of their travels was traveling to Chile on numerous occasions to deliver construction materials for the newly constructed Bethel branch there.

He is survived by his four children Mitzie Garcia and husband Mario Garcia, Micheal Cuda II and wife Beth Cuda, Moriah Herrera and husband Jared Herrera, and Mark Cuda and wife Gaby Cuda; four grandchildren Madisen Garcia, Josiah Cuda, Micaela Garcia, and Montgomery Cuda.

Mike excelled scholastically with academic achievements few would ever come to know of since he never spoke of them.  Rather, his love for divine education meant that Mike had a real love for the preaching work.  He would start a conversation with anyone, anywhere and would inevitably steer the conversation to share kingdom truths.  As a result, he helped many come to know and love his God, Jehovah.

For those of us who had the joy of knowing Mike we are saddened to have him leave us for even a short time, but we are comforted in the knowledge that he endured faithfully to the end and is safe in Jehovah’s memory.  In the meantime, like Jehovah, we keep him very much alive in our memories until we see him soon “in the land of the living.”

Dearest Miriam and family, Thank you so much for the beautiful Memorial Service that you shared with us! It was truly heart-warming to see the care and thought that went into every detail of the program. It is evidence that Mike was loved and will be remembered. It surely is hard to imagine anyone loving Mike more than you all. But Jehovah does- John 3:16; Rom 5:8; 1 John 4:8; Ps 100:3-5. He loves and misses Mike. He misses the warm and affectionate communication that he shared with Mike. He yearns to once again see Mike carry out acts of faithfulness that give Him a reply to Satan's claims- Job 14:15; Prov 27:11. It is that love has already moved him to commission his Son to call out to Mike and awaken him- John 11:43,44. The date has been set. All faithful family and friends will be invited. Please invite us to the resurrection. We long to see YOU, Mitzie, Mike, Moriah, Mark, their mates and their kids... "beside yourselves with great ecstasy" (Mark 5:42). Ecstasy, Great. [Then I can exchange images of a joyful crying Cuda family with those traumatic images that I witnessed the day that Mario married Mitzie and took her off to Bethel! I have never witnessed a grown man cry like Mike did on that day. The love of a father. Who knew?] :) Our Harris family prayer is that you continue to find comfort in the scriptures as you remember that Jehovah is looking forward to the resurrection more than anyone else. We love you all. See you when we visit Orlando. The Harris family

We were so shocked and sorry to hear the sad news . Hialeah was a long time ago but that’s where we started . I know Mike studied with Arley Because of that Arley came into the truth along with his wife June, my dear friend .Just saw Mike and some of the family at Kissimmee Regional last year . He was reminiscing about my mom’s Sunday comments . We laughed . Hugs to the family.

Dear Miriam, We liked you and Mike very much. It is clear that he was a very loved brother just by how many attended his memorial. It was both moving and encouraging to hear the stories of his life, and for us to hear how instrumental he was in helping others to learn the truth. We also very much enjoyed the video presentation of his life. We know he is ensured his spot in Jehovah's book of life, and may we all be there to welcome him back!

Everytime I met Mike, I told him he has the coolest name ever, "Cuda", as in one of my favorite Mucle car's. Brother Cuda was indeed a beautiful Man in a physical way, but most important in a Spiritual way.
