Maya R. Martinez, 39, peacefully passed away on October 3rd, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends at her home in Eldorado, New Mexico. For almost 5 years Maya fought an incredibly strong and courageous battle against breast cancer, which ultimately claimed her life. Her viewing will be held this Tuesday at 7pm at Christian Life Church in Santa Fe and her Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday at 10am at Christian Life followed by a reception. The family requests all attendees wear pink in her honor. Maya was born on January 23rd, 1978 in Phoenix, Arizona to Anita Carlson and Manuel Gonzales. She graduated from Capital High and later married the love of her life Isaac Martinez on July 25, 2003. They raised one daughter Chantelle Martinez. Maya moved to Santa Fe in 1987 and subsequently earned her Real Estate license and Dental School Certificate. For years Maya worked at Tortilla Flats and La Familia Dental Clinic where she developed many close and long lasting friendships. Outside of work Maya greatly enjoyed, fishing, traveling, cooking, golfing, working on her yard, photography but most of all Maya enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Her family paid this tribute, “Maya was one of the most beautiful (inside and out), sweet, kind, selfless and joyful people you could ever meet. Her infectious smile, laugh and sense of humor touched and inspired countless lives. A woman of deep faith in Christ, Maya will always be greatly loved by many, deeply missed but never forgotten.” She is survived by her husband Isaac Martinez, daughter Chantelle Martinez and the entire Martinez/Macias family (over 200), Father Manuel Gonzales, Mother Anita Carlson, Brother Quentin Kilbride, Sister Cindy Bond, Brother-in-Law Steve Bond, Niece Ashlee Bond, Nephew Dylan Bond and Great Grand Niece Scottie Meeus Bond. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Breast Cancer Society of New Mexico.
