Max Denning Chapman passed away on August 7, 2021. He was born June 7, 1985, and is survived by his parents, Charles Stephen and Christine Denning Chapman his two sisters, Leah Mailloux, (Will Robinson, nephew Zack and niece Maya) and Alianor Chapman (Bobby Stoskopf niece Delia) Since Max’s arrival 36 years ago, he has been the center of our family. His nephew Zack and 2 nieces Delia and Maya knew it was Uncle Max that was always up for fun and new things like archery and raucous board games. Max lived a live of profound challenges with a series of handicapping conditions. But even with all the challenges he had, Max lived a full and fun life. Max was always willing to help others and brought a positive, mischievous attitude wherever he went. Each mention of his name with others brought a smile or laugh. Max graduated from The Cottage School, Roswell, Georgia in 2004 where he had some of the best years of his life and earned a Hope Scholarship. In his final three years at Cottage, he was elected Captain of both the Cross Country and Track teams by his teammates each year. His senior year, Max won the Atlanta Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship as well as the conference track championships in the 800m, the 1500m and 3200m, setting school records in all those events. He was an early inductee into the Cottage School Sports Hall of Fame. As an adult, writing became a passion. He has a published memoir, an Outstanding Achievement in Poetry from Poetry Nation, several published poems, and a screenplay. Max worked at Enterprise Car Rental in Tigard, Oregon for 9 years. Athletics is the center of our family life and Max was gifted with a joy for adventure. Traversing the Boundary Waters at age 16, skiing black, double diamond slopes from age 11, snowmobiling in Yellowstone, hiking throughout the West were the activities Max enjoyed along with travel to Mexico and Europe. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on January 20, 2022 at The Cottage School, in Roswell, Georgia. The Max Chapman Track and Field Training Track will begin in 2022 at The Cottage School. All donations in Max’s honor can be made to The Cottage School/Max Chapman Training Track.
