Matt, You've always been a great friend. I've always been a bit of a goofball, and I enjoy making people laugh. I can't think of anyone I wanted to make laugh more than you. Your laugh was infectious, and you were so quick-witted that I knew if I could get you going you'd have me laughing too. Most of my best memories from high school involved you and all the goofy situations we got ourselves into. Although we hung out increasingly less as the years went on, any time I saw you it was like no time had passed at all. You had a truly impressive knack for making friends and maintaining friendships. I'll miss you greatly here on Earth, but I know I'll see you again someday with our Lord. And I know we'll be laughing. I love you, brother. -Sauce

I worked with Matt and his Dad at State Farm for many years and I loved Matt like he was my Grandson. Sending many prayers for Margaret, Susan Elizabeth, and Victoria. I felt like I was part of their family. Condolences to all

Nearly 20 years ago, I was spending my last summer in Athens before I was about to graduate and enter the real world. Many times after work, Matt would invite me over to have a few cold ones with him. I remember sitting out on his front porch and talking for hours. Having deep conversations. Conversations about my insecurities, my weaknesses, my fears, my goals and everything in between. Much older now, I recognize how significant those conversations with Matt were. Men usually don’t communicate to those depths with each other. Yet Matt somehow got it out of me with ease and grace. It was like I didn’t even know it was happening. From my perspective, that was Matt’s special gift. He had an emotional intelligence decades beyond his years. He was an incredible listener. He knew how to be a great friend and allow you to get out what needed to get out. Thank you Littlefield for bringing all your light into this world and touching so many of us with your positivity and radiating smile. Your warm soul and huge heart will be deeply missed. Rest easy big guy.

If you were lucky enough to know Matthew, consider yourself one of the luckiest. Matthew was a straight shooter. His quick wit was always followed with that big gorgeous smile, “The Littlefield smile”. This boy believed in me before ever believed in myself. He was never afraid to speak his mind and if he disagreed with something I said he made sure to let me know. Never in a demeaning way…he just needed to let me know that our opinions were different. The last time we were together in June he made sure to tell me how proud he was of me, how beautiful my family was and how much he liked my husband. I will cherish that our last conversation and hold it so close to my heart. Margaret Littlefield, Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield & Vic…I love ya’all. All my heart. ❤️
