MRK, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and educator, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and knowledge.
The youngest of eight children, he grew up surrounded by two brothers and five sisters, cherishing the bonds of family that remained central throughout his life. He shared nearly 70 years of marriage with his devoted wife, with whom he built a life grounded in care and togetherness. MRK was the proud father of two sons, one of whom predeceased him, and a loving grandfather to his only grandchild.
A man of great intellect and discipline, MRK held a degree in Political Science, a diploma in Commerce, and was a Chartered Secretary. He dedicated his professional career to the Bank of India, where he worked in Foreign Exchange until his retirement. His expertise and passion for learning extended well beyond his career — he was a sought-after guest lecturer at several institutions, including RBI College and IFMR, and served as visiting faculty for MBA Finance at LIBA, Chennai. His contributions to the field of finance and foreign exchange also live on through the two books he authored, which continue to guide and inspire students and professionals alike.
MRK will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for his kindness, humility, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. His presence enriched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished deeply.

From Anandan with Love I first met Krishna Mama long before the 1980s, during many family gatherings and casual visits. But it was in the 1980s that I had some really memorable talks with him, which made a big impact on me. These conversations helped me see Krishna Mama as a true mentor and guide. I remember one time when Krishna Mama taught me about choosing stocks. He explained things in a clear, simple way and gave me easy-to-use advice that helped me understand the world of finance. His lessons made even difficult ideas easy for me to follow. In another meeting, Krishna Mama spoke about Sandhyavandhanam, a daily prayer. He told me that giving Arghyam during the ritual is like aiming and throwing arrows at demons, which means fighting our bad habits. He also showed how standing on your toes for Arghyam is as important as being ready to shoot arrows—always alert and prepared for challenges. Krishna Mama loved telling stories, and his stories always taught something useful. Once, at Ram Mama’s grandson’s wedding, he talked about different types of bananas, especially Nendrapayam, and how they became popular. He made even simple topics fun by tying in facts and jokes. Besides being spiritual, Krishna Mama was smart in business matters too. He wrote a few valuable books about management and finance. When I was in Mumbai, I helped make sure these books were available in management institute libraries for students to read and learn. Krishna Mama liked hearing about the problems between workers and managers in my workplace. He listened closely, asked questions, and gave new ideas that always helped me think differently about handling such issues. Visiting Krishna Mama in Ashok Nagar was always exciting. There was never a dull moment with him—each visit was filled with friendly talks, great stories, and wise advice. For me, Krishna Mama is truly *a complete man*—kind, knowledgeable, and always ready to share what he knows. His influence remains strong in my life even now.

Remembering Krishnan Mama, my Amma's most admired and favourite youngest Mama, and a man of profound principles and sharp intellect. He was a pillar of strength, whose integrity guided every decision he made. He chose to set aside a promising career to dedicate himself to a cause greater than his own, leading a large union of Bank of India employees. His legacy is in the countless lives he touched with his courage and unwavering commitment. We will always remember his selfless spirit and the profound impact he had on the world around him. 🙏

Thatha, as I fondly recall MRK Thatha, I first met him when I was just 16 years old, when Niranjana introduced me as her classmate. From then on, I have been through thick and thin with their family. I’ve received scoldings from Thatha for visiting too late, and even for calling too often. Whenever I called, he would always pick up the phone and immediately pass it on to Niru, their landline number is still etched in my memory even after 20 years. I’ve also seen his eyes fill with tears as he thanked me for standing by them in difficult times. When I told him it was my duty, he simply patted my shoulder, a gesture I will never forget. I have always wished for a grandfather like him. The wisdom he shared with Niranjana often reached me too, shaping me in ways I cannot put into words. In befriending Niranjana, I didn’t just find a friend; I found a family. That is why I sometimes wish I had spent even more time with Thatha as I grew older. I know Thatha will always be with us. I will forever miss his voice, his scoldings, and his presence. Thank you, Thatha, for everything you have done. I am forever grateful and blessed to call you my Thatha too.

Will always remember Chittappa as a well read yet humble and patient man. I specially cherish the time when he did an upanyasam during our son's upanayanam ceremony. It was very meaningful for all who attended. I also have fond memories of interacting with him whenever he visited Mumbai when I was in school and college. Will miss him.

I know MRK since I joined the bank in 1960. We were in the Chennai Main Branch . We were transferred to different branches under the then bank's transfer policy. I was guided by MRK under difficult situations. I will not forget. Though we were in regular touch, our health conditions were in between to meet personally. When his passing away was conveyed to me by Jambunathan and Eswaran I was shocked. I regret that I couldn't take in his funeral. Please convey my condolences to his family members. May God give them enough strength to withstand the loss. My family also is joining me to condole the death. Ramanathan
