Mary Elizabeth Mehlbaum, passed away from this world peacefully to the care of her Creator on March 31, 2020 at Cedar Grove Assisted Living facility, at the age of 74. She was born in Cedarville, WV, at home, on April 19, 1945 to John T. Fisher and Garie Virginia Moore Fisher, the third of six children. After graduation from Normantown High School, she went to Glenville State College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She then taught school in Ritchie County for twenty-one years, mostly in 5th grade, retiring in 1998. Mary loved to quilt, knit, crochet, embroider, and cross-stitch. Other interests were flower gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling. She and her husband had made five trips to Europe, as well as Caribbean, Canadian and many US trips. An important and daily part of her life was a strong and personal relationship with God. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as all five of her siblings. Mary is survived by her husband and best friend of thirty-two years, Mark J. Mehlbaum, as well as son Lance M. Gainer and his wife, Mary. As per her wishes, Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation is in charge of her care. No services are planned. Those who knew her will remember her as the kind and gentle person she was. Many thanks to Cedar Grove facility for all the wonderful full-time care provided, and also to Housecalls and Amedisys Hospices for their assistance during this difficult time.
