This was the last photo I had on my phone of Aunt Mary, with my mom and Aunt Dot. I know she loved and cared for her family dearly. She was very proud of all of you. Her kind spirit and humor will be missed. Sending our condolences and prayers.

I have so many wonderful memories of my Aunt Mary. Whether it was speeding over the road bumps in her convertible around her house or teaching me how to properly use utensils when I was little, she struck a delicate balance of being both fun and educational! When I was young, she took me to the shore a couple of times, as well as babysat me when my parents used to go away. We used to go shopping, and that alone was a treat, because my mom didn't get her driver's license until I was a teenager, and my dad, like most men, was not interested in hanging out at the mall. I remember her being both super athletic and "fancy." She used to sprint against me at the beach and kick my rump for years. When I was finally ready to kick hers, she claimed she was in retirement.:) She used to lift weights and had some major muscles back in the day! It was admirable, especially back then! But despite being kind of a tomboy, she was also petite, feminine, fashionable, and like I previously stated, fancy. When I was younger, I loved going over to her place, unless it was for dinner. Her food selections, while I'm certain delectable to some, didn't match my palate, especially when I was little! She always tried to encourage me to eat better, so I feel bad when I say that sometimes things were out on my plate that ended up in an empty Coke can for disposal. Now, don't judge too harshly... it wasn't totally my idea (Eric!), and we were discovered and approached about it, which was totally humiliating, but hey, you live and you learn! Aunt Mary and Uncle Larry were gracious enough to allow me to live with them when I did my semester of student teaching in 1999. It was during a difficult period in my life, and I was grateful that they offered their home (and their food that I didn't eat) to me. Without their encouragement, I don't know if I would have made it through that semester, as I knew I didn't want to be a teacher at that point. I was student teaching during the Columbine shootings, and there were multiple bomb threats at Emmaus High School when I was there. I was always sick from those dirty kids at the school and lost my voice for at least a month, but they still allowed me to hang with them. I called Aunt Mary fairly regularly, and we'd always be on the phone for an hour at a time. She was so proud of Shawn, Dan, Jessie and Sammy. She used to talk about the fabulous times and vacations she had with her friends, Maria, Sonja, and Louie and Nancy, and sometimes, I was even lucky enough to get the scoop on some juicy stories that happened with family members long before I was even born. We had the kind of relationship that was effortless, and we could easily pick up where we left off. I will miss her immensely. Aunt Mary, my Godmother, was a wonderful person. Giving, outgoing, loving, beautiful. I feel lucky that she was such a big part of my life. RIP, Aunt Mary. I will always love you.
