Mary Ellen Curry

Mary Ellen Curry, known as Miss Curry to her students, passed away on October 22, 2024, at the age of 80. A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, she graduated from Parkersburg High School and West Virginia University. Miss Curry dedicated her career to education, serving as a beloved teacher in the Wood County Schools system, where she taught at both Rayon and Martin elementary schools.

Beyond her professional life, Miss Curry was an avid genealogist, gardener, and bird watcher. She found joy in tutoring, solving crossword puzzles, and volunteering with Save A Kitty, an organization devoted to helping feral cats. Her compassionate spirit extended to all creatures, great and small.

Miss Curry was predeceased by her parents, John T. and Isodine Curry. She is survived by her sister, Susan Curry, and her niece, MaryBeth Hahn. Donations in her memory may be made to the Save A Kitty Feral Cat Program at saveakitty.org.

A private cremation will take place at Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.
