Loved Ones

Mary Busenbark, age 66, died Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic after battling a long illness.

Mary was born March 28, 1955 and was married to Ron Busenbark for 47 years. They were an example of a strong marriage; they honored their vows every day and centered their relationship around God, compromise, humor, and respect. They were most proud of the family they built together.

Mary, humble and unwaivering in her Catholic faith, had a profound impact on anyone she met. She helped many people find and grow in their faith. Because of her commitment to Jesus, she was able to pass peacefully and unafraid, surrounded by love. When she took her last breath, The Avett Brothers "No hard feelings" was playing, her children and Ron were gathered around her, and snow began to fall.

Mary loved saying the Rosary, supporting her children and grandchildren throughout the years at their many sporting and school related events, singing to those same kids the Rolling Stones song "You can't always get what you want," camping, good music, and spending time with family. She was a caretaker and it was her home where everyone went to recover from illness or surgery. Nieces and nephews also fondly recall Aunt Mary's house was the one they were sent to when their own parents needed a break! Everyone felt at home with, taken care of, and loved by Mary.

If you knew Mary, you understood while she did not like getting her picture taken, she always reminded those around her "to close your eyes to take a picture for your memory" when experiencing special moments.

She is survived by Ron along with her children Amie (Rodney) Kellogg, Chris Busenbark, and Jennifer (Rich) Busenbark-Valko, grandchildren Alexis, Jadyn, Makenzie, Macaiah, Bailey, Emma, Isabella, Max, Celia and Sofia. She is also survived by her mother, Agnes and nine siblings, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, bonus children and grandchildren. Mary is preceeded in death by her father, Ray.

Her greatest lessons were of faith, loyalty, generousity and kindness.  Her greatest legacy is the love she left behind in the hearts of all those that were lucky enough to know her.

Please leave your favorite memories, photos, stories, and lessons learned from Mary below. Her family cherishes them all.

Hi Mary (and Ron), I want you both to know that I still think about you guys. Every time I see the color purple or someone getting their nails done, I think of you Mary. Every time I watch a Michigan game, I think of you Ron. I didn’t realized how much you guys made an impact on my life until here I am 5 months later still thinking of you both, missing the time I spent taking care of you, Mary, and getting to know your family. Heaven is lucky to have you Mary and I hope you’re doing well and watching over Ron. I truly miss you both and my condolences is still with your family ❤️❤️❤️

Mary was on my floor at the clinic for a while, she became one of the family basically. She was such a great woman and patient, even tho she was sick she had such spunk and a smile that could make everything light up! Taking care of her was always so nice. Her room was my escape when I was having a rough night as I knew Mary could always make me smile. Rather it be with a hand to hold, a smile, or a funny comment, she was the highlight of my night. I recall doing her nails for her a few times and pampering her with a full "salon style" hair wash! My highlight was her birthday and celebrating with her and Ron. From the cupcakes, to the balloons, to the smiles, the nice fresh dyed hair, and the lovely purple nails i picked out for her, that memory will always stay with me! Ron always shared snacks with me (or bribed me with a snack to get her something lol) I miss those snacks and burgers he used to share! Mary and Ron will forever be in our hearts. I want to thank Ron and the rest of their family for being so great! Stay strong guys and remember the J51 team will always be here for you all!

I’m so saddened to hear about Mary’s passing. I was lucky enough to get to know her when she walked into the hair salon where I worked and was placed with me. Our long talks and her beautiful laugh made it easy to spend time with her. Rest in blessed peace dear lady. I know that you are near your Lord❤️

I remember Mary fondly. The Lehr family lived in our neighborhood. Mary and I would play in her backyard while the older kids were in school. She was a sweet, kind, loving soul. Heaven gained another angel. Rest in peace Mary.
