Being in Mrs. Pirtle's class for 2nd grade was a complete blessing. I have such fond memories of her reading Charlotte's Web to the class and introducing us to so many wonderful artists. During that year, Mrs. Pirtle was also in a horrible auto accident. She bounced back and continued the school year as our beloved teacher. I stopped by the school decades later and to my heart's delight, Mrs. Pirtle was still there. She was teaching art and we had a nice visit. She even remembered me and my family. My condolences are with all those she leaves behind. Rest In Peace, Mrs. Pirtle. Thank you for sharing your gifts.

When Barbara, Leigh, Mark and I moved from Lubbock to Houston in February of 1970, I had a completely new job to occupy my focus and the kids were in new schools in the younger levels. Barbara was returning to the city of her earliest childhood and finding herself a little lost. Martha invited us into the Covenant community and made it her business to see that we learned our ways around. This, of course, included food, drink and new people. Her mission never stopped; we were and remain grateful all of our days. Bill Hamilton
