Loved Ones

In Loving Memory of Mark Baumgartner

Mark Baumgartner was a beloved child of God, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and coworker.

He lived his life with a heart for others and a deep desire to be of service, as though he always knew that helping and caring for people was one of his purposes.

Mark took great pride in being someone others could depend on and they could trust, confide in, and turn to when they needed a helping hand.

He did not ask for much for himself. Instead, he wanted to make sure the people around him were cared for and taken care of.

Mark loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. He is adored from his family as the foundation of their home. He showed his love through his presence, his generosity, his humor, and the countless ways he cared for those around him.

Mark also found joy in the simple things that made him uniquely himself. He loved building audio speakers in the garage and listening to Fleetwood Mac, Bob Seger, and the Eagles through the speakers he had built with his own hands. He enjoyed spy movies, especially James Bond, and could always be counted on for a dad joke or a clever pun.

Mark came into this world as a child of God and spent his life helping and serving others from his heart. He lived humbly, asking little for himself while giving so much to those he loved.

To a most loving soul, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend: thank you for being with us, for caring for us, and for showing us a light of God that we can carry and strive to become in our own lives.

You are deeply loved, respected, and admired.

It’s hard to believe that it has been 23 years since I first met Mark. Mark gave me a fun summer internship and, soon after, my first professional job at Smith & Nephew. I was incredibly fortunate to have him as my first boss. I adored and trusted him, and I learned so much from him—not only about work, but about what it means to genuinely enjoy what you do and to help the people around you. Mark found joy in his work and in helping others. That kindness, enthusiasm, and generosity left a lasting impression on me and shaped the beginning of my own career in ways I will always carry with me. Yesterday, I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news of his passing. I found myself wishing I could see him one more time, talk with him, and tell him how much he meant to me. It somehow feels like yesterday that I first met Mark, yet 23 years have passed. I will always be grateful that our paths crossed, and I will always remember him with tremendous affection and gratitude. Rest in peace, Mark. You made a difference in my life, and I will never forget you.

Farewell old friend. Sorry we failed to get together for a visit after all the years gone by since we were neighbors behind the old blue diamond cafe and gas station.

It certainly is clear that he is a man who loves well, and who is dearly loved. Praying that God will provide comfort for all those that are missing him .

Mr B, I know I've told you many times and you refused to make a big deal about it, but you were a major cog in my development and growth in my career. You were my mentor and friend. One of the wisest guys I've ever met and hilariously quick witted. The knower of almost everything and modest beyond belief. I am a better man for knowing you. You will be sorely missed. -MVI

How did Mark make an impact on your life?

I’m not sure he knew this, but I would call him “Saint dad” because he was always willing to help everyone, his family, coworkers, friends, strangers. His kindness was in his patience, being of service to others, while still being silly to have someone laugh. He is still Saint dad to me. He’s a protector, highly intelligent, and a heart that was made from the image of God.
