Loved Ones

Daughter. Sister. Mother.

Marisa Lester lost her courageous battle with breast cancer at the young age of 39 after being diagnosed in 2017. She transitioned peacefully at home in Odenton, MD surrounded by family who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She is survived by her two incredible children, Naomi and Oliver Collins, her parents Larry and Val Lester, and her two sisters Tiffany and Erica Lester.

Marisa was a creative who expressed that passion through her fashion and artwork. Her proudest achievement though was being a mother and she poured everything into raising her children. It was truly one of her greatest joys.

Please share below any condolences, stories, pictures, and/or favorite memories you had of Marisa during her short time here in this earthly realm. If you click on the Mementos tab above, you can see more of our family photos.

Funeral arrangements are still pending and will be posted here when solidified.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Sisters Network, Inc. using the link below if you wish to give. We chose this organization as it directly supports Black women across the country to provide access to the medical resources they need for prevention and survivorship of breast cancer.

Marisa was a fantastic mother. Our kids were blessed to have her while they did. Since I met her in 2007 it seemed she wanted kids and they were drawn to her. I bought her 3 dogs to try a qwell her desire for motherhood prior to our daughter being born... it didn't work. She longed for the connection that she ultimately had with iur kids and i loved seeing it. She used the researching skills she got from her father to find exciting activities and opportunities for them, sometimes dragging me along kicking and screaming. Although we ultimately went our separate ways, the desire we had to raise healthy and happy young people kept us connected. Its hard to believe I am having to write this right now, but i will forever make sure our kids know the dedication and love she had for them up until her last breath. You are, and will forever be missed Marisa.

Hello Mr. Lester, I offer my deepest and most sincere condolences. I knew not your daughter, but I knew you her father and under your guidance and stewardship I can not imagine that she was anything less than magnificent and a light to this world. I pray God comforts you and your family through this difficult time, and that you all are able to find peace in the good memories of her and in the hope of being reunited once again and for forever more.

Marisa was a great friend. I'm sad to be having to write this.. She was the best mother and she fought so hard to spend a moment, a second, longer with her kids. I learned a lot from her concerning motherhood by the amazing example she set through her parenting. She told me she loved being a mom and she was did not want to be away from her kids. Even though she was a single mom, like myself, she spent the majority of her time caring for her children while fighting cancer. She spent her time away from her children thinking of their needs and missing them. Even though she is no longer with us, I know she is looking down on them from heaven. My condolences to your family.
