Marcia Collins
January 5th, 1963 - January 10th, 2024
January 5th, 1963 - January 10th, 2024
Marcia “Ann” Collins was a dedicated mother, sister, and friend. Marcia passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer, in the presence of her loved ones who will continue to keep her memory alive by living life to its fullest.
Marcia was born January 5th 1963, in London, England. Raised one of six, she was the first of the younger children to be born in the United Kingdom. Many know her as Ann, and if you were to ask about Marcia, they would think this was another Powell child. Spending her entire childhood and young adulthood in England she completed her education obtaining an associate degree.
Marcia loved to travel. Through her travels, and the relationships she formed, she found herself in America. In the states she started a family and made a career in retail. Giving 15+ years to Kohl’s department store starting at a location in O’Fallon Missouri and later working the circuit of the Northwest Indiana locations. She was even a part of the opening team for two of the NWI stores.
In recent years Marcia resumed her travel visiting her siblings in both the United Kingdom and Jamaica. Very few things could make her as happy as she was on the beaches of Jamaica. She had a love for her countries sharing with her children the comfort of a nice cuppa or the savoriness of a Jamaican patty.
Marcia is survived by her children Crystal Collins, Tim & Colette (Collins) Jirtle and Marc Collins; Siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Bishop Melvin Lea Powell and Amy Rose Powell.
In closing, a quote from a favorite show of hers that will hopefully bring some comfort to all of those who love and miss her, “You are being tested. And you know what they say my darling, being tested only makes you stronger” - Cora, Lady Grantham, Downtown Abbey
