You left me behind dad, and I think if you so often. You left an incredible secret, a legacy that I have continued to build and explore for you. I am making connections with your American family. I’m in touch with your half sisters Lorraine and Barbara, from your dads second marrriage. I’ve also made contact with your half siblings from your dads first marrriage. Sadly only 1 is still alive, Margaret but she has dementia and is very unwell. I am in good contact with Rachel’s family. She was your half sister but sadly died. I have many cousins. Cindy and I are also getting to know each other better, she has had a few trips over and we have stood together at the Beck remembering you. I miss you dad.

Many happy memories over many many years! I had quite a few photos to choose from but I think this sums it up! Very glad we got to see you last month. Will be sadly missed by us all here. xxxx

Grandad was a remarkable man who always knew how to bring a smile to our faces. One memory that stands out is when he would put his knees in his shoes to appear shorter, just to make us laugh. It's moments like these that remind me of his loving and playful spirit. As I carry on, I'll strive to make him proud and continue to hold dear to the memories we made together. I will adhere to my values and uphold his legacy. RIP Grandad

The photo above represents a man who travelled thousands of miles to see his grandson get married despite his health. This can be described as nothing less than love, my wife and I will always be truly grateful that he was apart of our special day (even making it into my speech). Over the years, I have been in contact with grandad over emails occasionally checking in or updating him with my life. One distinct email that stands out was him telling me how proud he was of what I have done and what I might achieve. So as you finally rest grandad I truly hope as you watch over me and my future family that I continue to make you proud of the man I’ll become. You have given my mum, my siblings and myself so many happy memories, a distinct one for me is getting a sea lion to shake my hand at Seaworld. You are missed and life may never be the same without you. So until we meet again, I love you and rest in peace

Ever since a young boy my grandads always been my hero, someone ive always looked up to and been so proud of. He was a strong successful man who conquered so much in life his sacrifices just show how determined and strong he was ive always been so proud to tell everyone about my grandad in america who had achieved so much and made such an amazing life for himself but most of all he made my mother the women she is kind loving successful determined passionate just like my grandad was and i know he always been and always will be as proud of her as i am. Im so grateful my own little family got to meet the legend who shaped our family into the good people they are im glad they will remember him as i tell them all the stories about him growing up. My memories of my grandad are going to hull city followed by toys r us then him leaving to go to the pub (whilst smoking a pack of cigs) then as i got older i went to stay with him in america which was the best holiday of my life and a whole load of memories im told by my nana im alot like my grandad im quite blunt and say things that often offend people but i speak my mind just as he did I just need to find the determination and success he did now im so sad that hes gone and miss him dearly but i shall continue life making you proud love you forever grandad

I will always cherish my memories of Grandad; I remember being in America and I wanted to go on a ride and no one wanted to come on with me but Grandad did. He used to always make us laugh with his sarcastic jokes and never failed to make a witty comment. I wish I got to see him more than I did but unfortunately distance kept us apart, but that didn't affect the love I always had and will have for Grandad. I'm so grateful got to see him one last time at Kian's wedding and got a final photo with him that I will hold close to my heart forever. My A-levels are fast approaching and I am determined to do well for you Grandad, I hope the grades I get make you proud watching over me. You'll always be missed but the memories we share will always live on x
