Lynn Blair Day

October 14th, 1943 - August 15th, 2021

October 14th, 1943 - August 15th, 2021

Lynn Blair Day, age 77, slipped away to join his Heavenly Father on 15 August 2021. He was born 14 October 1943 in Weatherford, Texas, the first born of twin boys. He graduated from Cleburne High school in 1963. Lynn started his Navy career as a Hospital Corpsman and was subsequently stationed in Viet Nam with his beloved Marines in Recon and First Force Recon. While in Viet Nam, he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After his tour in Viet Nam, Lynn returned home to his first wife Barbara Burns, who had Lynn's son, John B Day. They also adopted a daughter, Beverly A Day. Lynn continued his studies graduating in 1973 from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and was commissioned in the US Navy as part of the Navy Nurse Corps Program. In August of 1978, Lynn married his wife of 43 years Linda Reid and continued his Navy career as a Navy Nurse Corp officer. This took the couple to San Diego, Adak, Bremerton and Yokosuka prior to Lynn's retirement in1992. Lynn was known for his ever present smile and his helping ways. After retirement, Lynn worked in nursing case management, while discovering the other love of his life. Excavators! Lynn built a word of mouth small business and did excavating jobs all over Kitsap County in Washington State. He took to it like a duck to water. In 2012, Lynn and Linda decided to build their dream home in Whitney, Texas. Finally able to move in the fall of 2014, Lynn enjoyed his final years being home in Texas with family and friends (many of whom he also considered family). Lynn is survived by his wife, Linda of Whitney TX. His son John and his wife Laura of Choctaw, OK, his daughter Beverly and her mother, Barbara Day of Oklahoma City, OK. His Identical Twin Layne Day and his wife Nancy of Quillcene, WA. Lynn was preceded in death by his Father, John C. Day during the WW2 Battle of Okinawa and his Mother Joyce E Parker in 2001. Lynn will be missed by all that knew him and loved him.

Lynn and I met in 2004 and became good friends right away. He was very generous with his time and resources. I learned much from his knowledge! He always had a smile! He is missed.

Lynn and I first met when we were both stationed at the naval hospital at Whidbey Island Air Station. I was the nurse anesthetist and Lynn was one of 4 RNs who rotated through the operating room for "on call". He was great! I could depend on him to support me and give outstanding patient care. That's also where I met Linda; she was night nurse in newborn nursery. Ran into Lynn again at the small hospital on Adak, AK, where he was charge nurse for the outpatient department. What a relief in my role as senior nurse to have someone as dependable as Lynn! Lynn had a terrific sense of humor, was kind and so very dependable. My husband Brian and I will miss him very much.

Lynn was the best person a friend could have. He would golf with us even when he was having a bad day he never got down or depressed. He gave my son his first job. He was a great role model for everyone. He gave of himself even when he didnt feel like it. I miss him. Lynn was one of the few who came to mancation/Golf trip and enjoyed himself. One beer is all it takes was his mantra. I still remember his help in setting up Golf tournments for charity. I will keep you in my thoughts every time the golf group plays this year and for years to come. Rest in Peace My FRIEND. Dave Meier
