March 6th, 1945 - February 15th, 2025
Arthur Warwick Luquire, lovingly known as "Luke," passed away peacefully at his home in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Luke’s warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew him.
Born in Mobile, Alabama, Luke dedicated his life to learning, service, and family. He earned the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. His career as a civil engineer took him around the world, including a two-year adventure in Singapore with his family. He always enjoyed traveling, exploring new cultures and meeting new people along the way.
Luke had an insatiable curiosity, devouring books on history and politics and engaging in lively discussions on the topics he loved. He was a master storyteller, filling every gathering with his wit and wisdom—often repeating beloved tales that grew richer with each telling.
A man of deep faith, Luke was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas. He lived his life with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to his loved ones. He truly welcomed everyone with open arms and a generous heart, always protective of those he held dear. He had a special way of making people feel like family, unofficially adopting his sons’ closest friends as his own and offering them unwavering support, wisdom, kindness, and at times, a place to stay.
Luke was married to the love of his life, Dr. Rosemary Luquire, for 52 ½ years. He is survived by his wife, his sons, Mark Luquire and Matthew Luquire, and his daughter-in-law, Sara Rachal Luquire. He was an adoring grandfather to Brianna Arthena Luquire (named after Luke) and Alyssa Rachal Luquire. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph W. Luquire and his sister-in-law Kelley Luquire; and sister, Cathy Magill, as well as his sister-in-heart and sister-in-law, Linda Heller.
Luke was a loving uncle to Tracie Heller; Chris Heller and his wife, Jana Heller; Heidi Heller and her husband, Robert Spehen; and Ashley Parker and her husband, Chris Parker. He was also a great-uncle to Penelope and Leo Heller, as well as April and JT Parker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas, Texas, in his memory.
A service honoring Luke’s life will be held on March 8, 2025, at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas, Texas beginning at 2:00PM. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a celebration of life at the Luquire family home to share memories and honor his legacy.
Luke’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him and he will forever be missed and loved.
