HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY, LON, wherever you are. You left us too soon.
Julia Bacher

All, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all are able to enjoy time together with your families (in whatever shape or form that takes - in person or virtually). It's been almost 2 months since Dad passed away and I'm finally able to get this Memorial site up and running. The last few months have been difficult and sad. I've been avoiding going through the things that Heidi and Jeanne sent me in the mail from his house and his office. I found this Calvin and Hobbes cartoon (if you didn't know, he was a HUGE fan) mixed in with his things. I feel like it sums up how Dad felt about life - "call it what you like". He was a great, fun father and I have such good memories of him growing up (listening to Beatles music, him playing the guitar and teaching me to play, playing video games, riding with him in the tractor and combine, spending time with him in the milk barn/shop/around the farm, taking drives and just talking). He taught me how to play basketball and how to be open-minded. He taught me that reading opens up the world. He loved me. He was a man who was quiet and observed the world, but also enjoyed spending time with other people. He wanted to be a writer. He was looking forward to retirement. I think I'm most sad that we (his family/grandchildren) won't get to spend more time with him after he retired like we all hoped. I wish my kids had gotten to know him better. I wish... so many things. I hope this site can be a place where we can all share our memories of my dad. Pictures, stories and testimonies to a life well-lived. A life gone too soon, but never forgotten. Love and miss you, Dad. Hope that "All-Girl Cabaret" is treating you well ;) --Julia

Terri Argyle
Julia, My name is Terri Argyle, I was the manager of Transcription and worked closely with your dad. I have many fond memories of Lon. He was a caring and intelligent man. He often spoke about you and the grandkids and was so proud of you all. When he first started at Kaiser he was involved in acting as an extra. He would tell me all about his adventures and somewhere I even have a head shot of his. If I find it I will upload it here. Each time he had an appearance in a movie, I would show his part during a department meeting and we would all congratulate him. I’m sure it embarrassed him but he was always a good sport about it! I told him I expected him to take me to his first Oscar or Emmy awards ceremony. He told me the first one was reserved for you but I could be second. He had a great sense of humor. I know he will be greatly missed and I’m sending you and your family my thoughts and prayers. I’m happy you have so many great memories to give you comfort.
