January 1st, 1920 - January 1st, 2021

Josefina Barrato Quimba went home to Jesus on 11th July 2021 at age 90.  She died peacefully due to old age.

Pians or Piana as she is fondly called was born to Marciano Barrato and Magdalena Hortelano on 12th March 1931 in Iloilo.

She graduated from Central Philippine University with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduating, she went on to pursue a career in teaching.  She taught initially at Good Shepherds Fold in Guimaras for a short while and went on to be one of the pioneer teachers at a Muslim community in Lamitan, Basilan in the early 60’s. Most of her teaching career however was spent at Iniligan Elementary school where she taught Grade 2 for more than 15 years.

She met her husband, Ernesto Quimba Sr (Erning) during a convention at Rose Memorial Hall, Central Philippine University. They married and went on to have two children, Daisy and Ernesto Jr (Boyet).

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, she was also involved in various community projects and organisations. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God.  She served faithfully through the ministry of Baptist Church of Forward.  She lived a very frugal life but always generous to those who needs help.

She joins her parents, husband, all her siblings - Ismael, Filomeno, Bienvenido and Paz who have already passed in Heaven. She is survived by her children, son in law Rhoel Dequina, daughter in law Sharon Batayola Quimba and grandchildren - Jae, Lynelle, Jemi, Ernest John, Ernest David, and Ernest Paul.
