“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”   - John 14:27

Logan Thomas Bates was born on November 16th, 1993, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He passed from this World into heaven, unexpectedly on October 3rd, 2021, at his home in Tempe, Arizona with his kitty, Leela, faithfully by his side.

Logan is preceded by his grandparents, Foster Bates and Elaine Bates and his kitty, Kato, who recently passed in April of 2021. He is survived by his mother Carol Bates and Stepfather Stephen Crowley, and his kitty, Leela.

Logan moved with his mother to North Phoenix, Arizona in 2004, at the age of 11.  He attended the Elementary School in Desert Ridge, where he made many friends. Logan was also a self-taught chess champion. He had a very strategic mind when it came to playing chess and was noticed by several Chess Masters at the tournaments he attended. He advanced to Middle School where he was active in wrestling. Logan advanced to Pinnacle High School where he also wrestled and advanced in Art Classes.

Logan loved life and all friends he made along his journey.  He was adventurous and loved the outdoors. He especially loved the ocean and spent many days on the beach during his years in Newport Beach, California.  He was into surfing, boogie boarding, and boating with friends.

He adored animals great and small. Logan had several cat companions throughout his life, the most recent being Leela, who stayed by his side until the end. When Logan was in middle school, he completed a summer internship at the local Veterinarian Hospital. He successfully completed the internship and was awarded a Certificate of Achievement.

Logan also worked in Las Vegas, Nevada as a Plumbers Apprentice for his longtime friend and mentor, Jason. When Logan returned to Phoenix, he worked in sales for the Vape Industry.  But after meeting a friend who had recently started his own business in the Household Moving Business, Logan quickly switched careers and learned everything he could from his employers. As Logan’s muscles grew, so did his skill. Soon he was managing Moving Crews and driving the massive box trucks hauling heavy loads of furniture for families across Arizona.

So enamored with the industry, Logan founded his own company, We Do the Moves.  He quickly amassed an impressive number of 5-Star Google reviews in a very short time.  Logan worked extra hours to pursue side work his We Do the Moves venture.  Many of his clients were retired folks in the Gold Canyon area, who adored Logan. Word spread and he soon had more work than he had dreamed of.

The World lost a great guy, with Logan’s passing. He touched many lives in his short life. People will remember him for years to come.

I know Logan’s mom, Carol, and her significant other, Steve, and had heard Carol speak with great love and affection for Logan. When I finally got to meet Logan at church one day, we hugged, and I could feel the warmth that came from his sweet heart. We laughed and talked. He was easy to like and feel affection for, with his big smile and bear hug. What a beautiful boy. I’m thankful to have met Logan and I know he touched my heart in that brief encounter.
