February 1st, 1954 - March 27th, 2021
Lise Ann Kimball passed away at age 67 on March 27, 2021 at Mission Hospital in Orange County. She was a 1972 graduate of Santa Paula High School, received her BA in Art from Stanford in 1976, and studied sculpture at the Saci College of Art and Design in Florence, Italy. She began her career as a graphic designer and later found her passion in sculpting marble and writing mystery novels. Lise was born into a farming family in Ventura County where she discovered her love of the outdoors. Throughout her lifetime, she lived in a number of cities in California, beginning her own family on a small farm near Sacramento. The family also lived for a time in southern Portugal, in keeping with her adventurous spirit and desire to experience different cultures. Lise was an avid hiker and had a love for horseback riding that led her at a young age to a professional riding school in England. A passionate explorer, she made lifelong friends wherever she traveled. She studied abroad in Ireland and Italy, eventually settling in Italy to sculpt marble and write. She was a gifted and passionate artist and had a curious nature that drove her to pursue a variety of interests beyond art, like Tai Chi, aromatherapy, holistic medicine, Italian, Portuguese, and fiction writing. Her intelligence made her a wonderful conversationalist and her spirit made her a joy to be around. She had a love of life, an unshakeable optimism, and was always positive and kind. She was well loved and will be missed by people in many countries. She is survived by her two children, David Clausen of Oakland and Lilli Clausen of Aliso Viejo, as well as her mother Dorcas Thille and siblings Gordon Kimball and Margaret Kimball of Santa Paula, Nick Thille of San Luis Obispo, Peter Thille of Ventura, and Robert Thille of Santa Rosa.
