The first time I met Leo was in September 1993 at Friends University where I had first met Elaine the week or so before. She and I had just started on our Master's degree. On this particular day, Leo had accompanied Elaine to the class. The instructor prided himself on being able to remember names. To prove that, he began at one end of the room and began to prove he could remember who was who. He did a good job doing so. Up until he came to Leo, he had remembered everyone's name. The instructor began rattling off the names of those he had not yet identified, and after every name, Leo would, in a very even mild tone simply say no. Leo finally confessed to the instructor after toying with him for a while, that he was just a visitor. This was the beginning of a wonderful friendship with both Leo and Elaine.

Goodbye for now, most treasured friend and family member. While you will be missed beyond words we will always be comforted by the great memories you helped us create over the many years. You inspired us by a life well-lived and an untimely death you fought against with great strength and dignity. Your legacy will endure for generations through the lives of your beautiful family who were all enriched by your eternal love and steadfast devotion. We know this is not the end for us and we celebrate the promise that we will be reunited with you on the other side. Until then, Rest in Peace, Leo.
