Laura Candise O’Connor

December 1, 1947 – November 27, 2024

On Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2024, Laura Candise O’Connor, known as Candy to her friends and family, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. Born on December 1, 1947, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Arthur and Patricia Buckley, Candy’s life was defined by love, kindness, and her unwavering dedication to caring for others. Whether you were family, friend, neighbor, or stranger, Candy welcomed everyone with a warm smile, a funny story, and a cup of coffee to share.

As the oldest of three children, Candy was a source of strength and love to her family. She is survived by her younger brother, Michael (Pludie) Buckley. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children: Sean (Teri) O’Connor, Ronnette Wallace, Richard O’Connor, Laura (Tom) Butler, and Stanley Oleska. She was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Jackie, Miranda, Danielle, Brent, Kristin, Baylee, Collin, Brandon, Tripp, Corbin, and Joslyn, and a beloved great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren: Miyah, Jaxon, Elijah, Cameron, Grace, Aubrey, and Kamden.

Candy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Patricia Buckley; her youngest brother, Dana Buckley; and her beloved spouse, Ronald O’Connor.

A private memorial service for the family will take place on Friday afternoon, December 6. While Candy will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she rests in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, whom she cherished above all. Her passion for Jesus, her family, and her pets was a cornerstone of her life.

In honor of Candy’s memory, her family encourages everyone to hold their loved ones a little closer this holiday season. Take time to laugh, share a warm cup of coffee with a friend, and let the light of love and faith shine in your life.

A private cremation will take place at Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.
