Kris was born on August 11, 1972, in Iowa City. She grew up in Lone Tree, but spent most of her life in Iowa City raising her family and simply enjoying life. Later, she returned to school studying both radiology and surgical tech before taking a break to be a nursing assistant. After several years, she returned to manage the convenience store where she spent many years building a community of people who adored her. Kris loved fiercely, laughed frequently, and spread joy with her smile everywhere she went. Her integrity, perseverance, optimism, and acceptance were contagious. She was a beautiful soul and will be missed deeply by the many people whose lives she touched.
Kris is survived by her husband, Bruce Kennedy; her mother, Cindy Larkin-Penney (Brett); 5 children, Brittany and Donovan Kimzey and Nichole, Michale, and Tanya Kennedy; a grandson, Kingston Kennedy; a brother, Shawn Larkin (Becca); as well as a niece; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kris was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Larkin; cousin Tina Marie O’Leary; an uncle, Brian Larkin; and grandparents Ida and Jim Walsh and Vince and Lucielle Larkin.
