I will miss Kristi. She was the nicest person I know. I am so happy that I was able to see her last summer in Chicago. We went out to lunch and then took a good walk around her neighborhood and the Northwestern campus. As a teenager I would come up with all sorts of reasons to be around Kristi and she was always welcoming and fun to be around. We had so much fun at the cottage for many years.

Let me start with reminences of growing up on Magnolia Avenue. My family lived at 5330 and Kristi's at 5314. Kristi sat me down when I was about five years old. She decided to tutor me on reading and writing. I can remember the kitchen table at 5314 , when she patiently taught me to print within the ruled lines and borders of the composition paper. I was unruly, but reading. I learned, though. Finally, to write legibly, within the lines ruled. It served me well in the first grade when Mrs. Hoseman sat the pupils around a semicircular to take turns reading out loud to the class. I was a bit ahead of the class and had a sense of confidence. Early glimpses and influences skipped over to the Hanson's cottage in Indiana, which was virtually a childhood paradise. The fondest of memories of that wonderful place are firmly set. We, the Falk family, were invited to that place on weekends and much more. The bold and adventurous Kristi would climb the Sycamore tree right outside the kitchen to its highest reaches swaying to and fro in order to survey the territory. Thats all it took for the rest of us to follow her example, climbing up the tree, branch by branch, to its highest reaches swaying to and from. Of course, Mom took notice, yelling out "YOU COME DOWN FROM THERE, RIGHT NOW"! Then, catching frogs, fighting bugs, running along the paths by the river, swimming at Cook's Island. The rumbling bridge...Yes , we traversed atop the bridge. How about the machine-gunned gangster model T? These are just glimpses of growing up and I think about Kristi's influences beginning in childhood. I'm not sure if, in a certain sense, my family adopted Kristi or she adopted us, but I think it was mutual and, by any estimation, Kristi is always a member of the family. In this difficult process, it is comforting to contemplate Kristi's essence and her effect on others.

Wishing comfort and peace to all of Kristi's loved ones. May abundant and indelible memories offer warmth and strength. It was an honor and a privilege to serve as one of her physicians

Kristi’s presence was marked by grace and gentleness. The twinkle in her eye and smile showed depths of humor. She carried the spark of aliveness and awareness and transmitted it to all. Her quiet curiosity and inquisitiveness was the base for interest and close attention. She nurtured and cared for Zack with exceptional lovingkindness and helped him grow into the good man he is today. One of my favorite memories of Kristi is of her helping Kelly and Thomas create yummy, colorful and elaborate gingerbread houses. May you go well, Kristi, and continue to manifest gentle warrior spirit for the benefit of beings. Love, Anne

Dear John, Zack and Leslie, Judith and I are so sorry for the profound loss of your wife and mother, Kristi. We continue to pray that God will surround you with his light, his love, strength, and wisdom as you navigate the days, weeks and months ahead. We didn’t know Kristi for a long time, yet our interactions with her showed us someone who was strong, determined, and full of love for life, and for people. We will miss her. Peace be with you!

Karen and I want to express our sympathy to John and family. From the moment I met Kristi, I was struck by, and graced by, her powerful calm and warmth. What an unforgettable person! Not long ago, Karen and I enjoyed being with John and Kristi at lunch at the Blind Faith Cafe (where else?) when we visited Evanston. We are so grateful for the time we spent together that day with John, Kristi and our son Stephen. It was a wonderful occasion that we will always cherish as we keep Kristi in our hearts and minds. Love, Jeff and Karen
