Kim's Cousin
Kim Johnson Smith
June 3rd, 1961 - April 14th, 2021
June 3rd, 1961 - April 14th, 2021
Kim Johnson Smith was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to Joan and Jim Johnson of Hampton, Tennessee, and grew up alongside her sister, Tanya Johnson Greene. She was married to her husband and high school sweetheart, Jack Smith and together they raised two sons, Colby and Dylan, who were the joy of her life. Kim passed away suddenly in 2021 in Ridgeville, South Carolina.
Family was the center of Kim’s world, and she cherished every moment with them. She was known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. During high school in Adam’s Run, South Carolina, she even played football, a memory her family recalls with pride. She loved personalized Christmas cards, the arcade game Galaga, and spending time with her beloved horses, Cocoa and Nikkia. Her sons fondly remember watching her ride in their grandparents’ horse‑drawn wagon, a sight that captured her spirit perfectly.
Kim poured her heart into motherhood and found joy in cooking, especially known for her baking. She enjoyed entering cakes in the Coastal Carolina Fair, where she won numerous blue ribbons, and she delighted in sharing those cakes with family and friends. She was a kind and thoughtful friend, always ready with a warm gesture or a laugh. Her sons often recall her wonderful sense of humor, including the time she accidentally sprayed Pam cooking spray on her face.
A woman of faith, Kim volunteered at her local Baptist church, sang in the choir, and was admired for her clear, expressive reading voice. Her absence is felt deeply, but her life remains a blessing to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave and the lives she touched.
