Kim Howard
June 27th, 1964 - August 20th, 2023
June 27th, 1964 - August 20th, 2023
In Loving Memory of Kim Howard (Beene) (June 27, 1964 – August 20, 2023)
Kim Beene unexpectedly passed away at home on August 20th, 2023, at the age of 59.
Kim was born in Omaha, NE to Don and Mary Beene. The family lived in various places around the country before eventually settling in the Pacific Northwest. Kim lost her father Pastor Don very early and set out on her own at a young age. She was a passionate and generous person who always worked to give those around her the experiences she wanted as a child. From big birthdays and Christmas celebrations, to taking her friends and their children to Disneyland. She worked for years with local charities to help underprivileged families in her community to ensure that every child got to open presents on Christmas.
Through loss and tribulations Kim took great care of her family and friends, including her mother and siblings at every turn. Her kind, and indominable spirit will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege to know her.
Kim was preceded in death by her partner, Rick Carr; Father, Pastor Don Beene; Mother, Mary Usher; Sister, Dianne Summers; Brother, Mark Beene; Niece, Amanda (Missy) Summers; Grand Parents, Lester, and Agnes Wright; and Uncles, Oliver, and Ernie Wright.
Kim is survived by her children, Justin Howard, and Nora Riley of Washington State. Nephews Jason Connor, Brandon Connor, Kyle Summers, Logan Beene, Ryan Beene, Hayden Beene, Zachary Connor; Best friends, Scott Steelman, Tresa Berry, Bob & Gayla Parisot, and her & Rick’s beloved dog Bentley, as well as countless friends and family around the country that she cherished.
She was buried at Floral Hills alongside her dad, mom, and brother to be reunited with her beloved family that was so important to her. A special marker has been ordered, and all are welcome to visit the grave site to pay their respects.
A celebration of life will be held to share stories, food, fellowship, and to remember Kim as the great friend she was to everyone that knew her. All are encouraged to attend and share in the celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Kim's memory to the Seattle Children’s Hospital. This gesture will honor Kim's giving spirit and continue her legacy of making a positive impact on the lives of others.

I was shocked to find out about Kim. She was my cousin Rick's partner and I have known her for many years - never as well as we wanted due to distance, but she was part of our family. My heart goes out to those left behind. We'll never really understand.....

I knew Kim since 1991. We still continued our friendship even distances apart. She was a loving mother, always baking, cooking great meals and enjoyed being with her sons. We have talked at least once a month on the phone. Last was in July. It was a serious conversation. If I was unavailable Kim let me know she was thinking of me and how I was doing. I missed speaking with her in August. RIP, Kim. You are reunited with family and still will always be loved here.
