Kevin Patrick Sheehan

July 15th, 1993 - March 25th, 2024
Kevin Patrick Sheehan was born on July 15, 1993, at St. Luke's Hospital, where his mother worked. Although he spent his life in Wallkill, his heart was always drawn to his parents' hometown of Altoona, Pennsylvania, where the mountains gave him a sense of peace and belonging. Whether hiking alone or alongside those he loved, Kevin found solace in the beauty of God's creation. He challenged himself on trails throughout the Adirondacks, Acadia National Park, Shenandoah National Park, and the mountains of Washington.
The name Kevin means "handsome, gentle, and kind," and those qualities described him perfectly. Kevin had a gentle spirit that was especially evident in the way he interacted with children and his beloved dog, Bella. His greatest joys were his family, Bella, sports—especially basketball and Notre Dame football—motocross racing, hiking, good friends, and good food. Proud of his Irish heritage, Kevin felt a deep connection to his patron saint, Saint Patrick, and honored him with a tattoo of his image on his arm.
Even before he started school, Kevin played basketball with the neighborhood boys on Truman Court. Though younger than everyone, they never took it easy on him, motivating him to practice tirelessly and improve his game. He could often be found outside, imagining himself in a championship game, visualizing every play and every shot. His dedication carried him through summer leagues at Most Precious Blood, school teams at Most Precious Blood School, and later to Wallkill High School and the Newburgh Zion Lions. Kevin often said that some of his happiest memories were made playing basketball at Most Precious Blood.
As Kevin grew older, his interests expanded to include dirt bikes and motocross racing, another passion that perfectly matched his adventurous spirit. He loved attending races and watching the thrill, challenge, and freedom the sport provided.
Kevin especially cherished time with his family while cheering on his favorite teams. He was an enthusiastic fan of North Carolina basketball, the Yankees, the Giants, the Penguins, and, most of all, Notre Dame football. Some of his fondest memories were trips to South Bend to watch Notre Dame play and visits to Giants Stadium with his family.
Kevin will be remembered for his gentle heart, adventurous spirit, unwavering loyalty to those he loved, and the quiet kindness he showed to everyone he met. He found peace throughout his life in the beauty of God's creation, and those who loved him take comfort in knowing that he now rests in the presence of the Creator whose mountains he loved so deeply. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who were blessed to know and love him.
