Kevin was adventurous. We had the privilege of experiencing many countries together. He loved snowboarding, camping and hiking. He was devoted to his work and built impressive and beautiful homes. He was an understated musician. I believe he was meant to be a famous singer-songwriter. He had a lot to express. He always strived to improve. He was generous, kind and helpful. I learnt a lot about myself through him. I met him when I was 16 years old. We wrote letters to one another for three years before email. He encouraged me to live in Scotland, where we lived for over two years, which was a profound experience. I got to know his wonderful family. He was 6 of 7 fun-loving siblings. I also got to know his 15 nieces and nephews. We then travelled the world and lived in Australia for a year. After that, I imported him to Vancouver where we had two beautiful and compassionate children, Oona and Hugo. He loved his children and was an adored father. Yogi the cat will miss him dearly. Thank you for all the richness you gave to my life. You are so loved Kevin. RIP.

So very sad to hear of young Kevin’s passing, I knew him when I worked for Gerry in Trongate many years ago, Kevin was always up to mischief and entertaining. Sorry for your loss. Diana Murray

On Father's Day and the Summer Solstice we buried some of Kevin's ashes beneath a Western Red Cedar tree known by the Coast Salish people as the Tree of Life. It will be kept near to be visited and to keep the essence of Kevin growing for generations to come.

You know that one guy who seems to be effortlessly good at everything he does? Who inspires you to be better, just by being himself? For me, that guy was Kevin. Whether it was music, martial arts, or even just playing a game of pool, Kevin would stun you with his skill. But he never held it over anyone. He was quietly modest. He was a man of character and integrity. He loved music and the outdoors, and when he loved something you would soon find yourself loving it too. He was a great father to his beautiful children, and more than anything my heart breaks for their loss. I will miss you Kevin. You were taken from us far too soon. Thank you for your warmth and kindness. My love and condolences to Michelle, Oona and Hugo. May his strength bind your family together with love forever.

Kevin was easy going, mild mannered and put me at ease immediately. He made my cousin Michelle happy. She would tell me over the years of their travels, their laughs and at times, their struggles. When I look at Oona and Hugo I feel his presence in their curiosity, their kind eyes that hold meaning and inquisitiveness. Kevin is forever loved, forever cherished and will live in loving memory.

We were first introduced to Kevin 10 years ago by a designer who needed a contractor for our kitchen renovation. We instantly connected with Kevin - his calm demeanor, professionalism, craftsmanship and attention to detail was what initially impressed us most about him. However, over the years we came to know Kevin as a kind, sincere, gentle, and funny man who loved his family immensely. Kevin was loyal, trustworthy and could be counted on. We bonded over conversations about our children, life, and camping. Our son adored him and was always excited to see and say "hi" to Kevin each time he was on site. As Kevin always made the time in his busy schedule to connect with Connor and ask him how he was doing. His legacy will live on in the beautiful home he has created for us each and every day. Thank you to everyone who shared their personal memories of Kevin. We learned so much of his other passions and talents; and through your stories we got to know a different side of him. It is hard to believe that our contractor and friend is no longer with us. We know that he has left a legacy too in his children – Kevin was such a proud father of them. Our condolences and love go out to his entire family, Michelle, Oona & Hugo. It was a privilege knowing him. He will be missed. Lysanne, Grant & Connor

To friends and family of Kevin, Some of you may know me, some may not, I am Michelle’s brother, uncle of Oona and Hugo, and have known Kevin since he began seeing my sister in their 20’s. I lived with the family for 8 years on Union Street, have worked on Kevin’s reno projects. I’ve been his astrologer. Today as we gather in person and virtually to celebrate his life I wanted to share some memories that frame how I most want to remember him. Before he was a father, I recall his arrival in Canada after my sister lived in Glasgow with him. That first impression when he met my family after crossing the North Atlantic ocean 7 052 km away. Like most who speak of Kevin, I was taken by his friendly, charming and generally mild mannerisms, his Scottish accent, as well as the way he brought happiness to my sister. I witnessed them travel the world together and have fond memories of our road trip to Black Rock City for Michelle and Kevin’s first Burning Man. We all shared a connection to electronic music and rave culture to some extent. I recall Michelle and Kevin going to SummerLove rave in Squamish. The astrologer in me notes the 7th House Neptune in Sagittarius and can see how it brought him together with my sister so he could travel and adventure with someone. I’ve often admired Kevin’s musical gift. It peeked out amongst his many talents and it seemed it came improvised and without practice. It seemed private and rarely displayed in front of others. I am left to wonder if any recordings exist of it. And perhaps I am fortunate to have been an audience that few were part of.
