Loved Ones

Kevin Scott Lee, 50, of Port Orange, FL, passed away on October 31, 2021, after a hard-fought four month battle with liver and kidney failure. Kevin was born on February 8, 1971 and adopted by Alfred and Arlene Lee, in Milwaukee, WI. After Kevin graduated from Port Washington High School in 1989, he went on to begin studies at UW-Milwaukee. A hiatus from studies brought Kevin back into the gymnastics community (a sport he enjoyed as a child) and he coached at LaFleur's Gymnastics in Menomonee Falls for about 15 years. With determination to finish his college degree, Kevin returned to studies at UW-Milwaukee and graduated with a Bachelor's in psychology in 2008. In 2008 Kevin was admitted to Florida International University's Master's in Occupational Therapy program. After graduating this program in 2010, Kevin worked mostly in skilled nursing facilities, sometimes in the role of occupational therapist and sometimes in the role of rehab director. In 2006, Kevin married Elizabeth Josephine Hamm for the first time at Jekyll Island, GA. Kevin and Elizabeth went on to have three children: Adelynn Jean, Nathan James, Derek Hans. Kevin was predeceased by his father Alfred. He is survived by Elizabeth, his mother Arlene, his sister Stephanie Misko, and his children: Adelynn (14), Nathan (12), and Derek (7). Kevin was a kind and unselfish man. He loved his children and family dearly. He was an amazing father and very involved in all aspects of fatherhood. He genuinely cared for others, and in his lighter moments he was full of life and genius wit. He will be missed. Kevin's memory will be honored online.

Kevin was my neighbor in Whitefish Bay. We many great times with Kevin and his roommates Brad and Anne. He always had a smile on his face and was a great friend and neighbor (this is going back to 1996). Sending prayers and condolences to his family.

I dearly wish I/we had known Kevin better. What I noticed from brief family gatherings was Kevin’s ready smile. I took that as a sign that he had a good sense of humor and that he knew happiness. Many have mentioned that he was a devoted dad and that is exactly what I would have expected. How admirable of him to go back to school and achieve a degree in OT. We think of the many family members Kevin left behind and the grieving they must be going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and over the days and weeks to come.

I knew Kevin for 27 years and I loved him. He had a wonderful personality. We had a lot of good times. One of my best memories is when I gave birth to Addy, because not only was it his first child, but also because she was the first blood relative Kevin had ever met (since he was adopted). Kevin was my college chemistry partner, my dance partner in the Aegean Sea, the father of my three children, an authority figure (as a coach) when I was growing up, my neighbor on Prospect Avenue (with our views of Lake Michigan), then my co-worker, my life teammate, my closest friend, and the man I needed when I was in my young 20's and searching for a stable emotional force. We went back to school together - I remember sitting on our porch in Milwaukee tutoring him by grilling chemistry flashcards - it was fun - he was fun. I was so proud when he went back to school - I went to both his graduations and I never even attended any of mine, not even high school. Voted "best smile" in high school - he deserved that. He lived a full life and that makes it less tragic.

I was in 8th grade when Kevin was a kindergartener - always a friendly & enthusiastic kid, fun to babysit him and Stephanie. My heart goes out to his family, prayers especially for his kids. Now he's helping Jesus get heaven ready for the day God reunites each of you with him there "and so we will be with the Lord forever!"

I put this video together about seven years ago. I think it's a good video to remember Kevin as a father. https://youtu.be/fk0wD4VJYkM

I am deeply saddened to hear Kevin has passed. My sincere condolences to his family and heartfelt prayers for peace and strength. To know him was to love him. I've never used that phrase before, but it was true of Kevin. We were best of friends in our high school and college years. To this day, his was one of the best friendships I've ever had. He was loyal, caring, joyful, humorous, witty, dedicated, and at times mischievous. And his laugh! If ever there was an "infectious" laugh, Kevin's was it. Over the years I would occasionally share a story or a memory with my family of how much fun Kevin and I had as young men growing up in Port and then moving on to new parts of our lives. Although time, distance, and "grown" life have drawn us in different directions over the years, he was always one of those friends with whom I could pick up a conversation like no time had passed. He was a good friend and a bro, and a positive part of my life. I'm thankful for him and sad to see him go. Best wishes to his family.
