I knew Kevin through work. He was by far the most friendly and committed sales rep I had in the freight industry. There are not many people like him. I miss you bringing us those egg Mc muffins in the morning then sitting around chatting it up for a good long time. The golf pools were always a good time. RIP from all your friends at KEE Action Sports / GI Sports.

I was looking through some old vacation photos and found this one. Its not only a great photo of the family but also brought back some memories. We did a zip lining and atv excursion in Mexico and my dad (Dave Lack) crashed his atv into the side of a mountain. He got beat up pretty bad. He says the brakes didn't work but Im pretty sure it was mostly his fault. I remember Kevin urging my bloodied dad to walk into the room where guests were waiting to go on the excursion. The idea was to get the photo package for free as the people running it didn't want their customers seeing how bad they could get injured. It worked beautifully. We got the entire photo package for free hence having this picture. Kevin will always be in my heart and Im so grateful for having spent so much time with him.

How does one start to say something about a man like Uncle Kevin? He would have been the first person to come up and say something wonderful and well thought out at a memorial service. For my grandparents, his parents, he chose a bible verse that he thought expressed the type of parents they were. For Uncle Kevin, Hospitable is the first things that popped in my head as something that he was. 1 Peter 4:8-9 says “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” Walking into his house meant getting ready to embrace a big hug and encounter a hug smile. Eating at his house meant a kitchen island full of food and a dining room full of love and laughter. There was never a time I didn't feel welcomed, loved, and accepted. Family was extremely important to Uncle Kevin. He took after grandpa by always attending performances, soccer games, birthdays, graduations, weddings, funerals, and every kind of miles stone event with a camera in hand. Uncle Kevin was competitive and it didn’t just stop at card playing. From the time of Farmville, I’d overhear my mom many times say, 'He is ahead of me again, how does he do that!' He’d show me the latest mobile game on his phone and it would be impossible to catch up to him on it. For me though I will cherish my competition with him for the most steps. Although I live 6 hours away, I got to compete with him every day. Memories from that one time he said he couldn't believe why I stopped 3,000 steps shy of 50,000 steps when I could have gotten that badge. Or the countless circles walking around my house to make sure my number was higher than his. The best was the privilege I had on one of my trips to socal was to do my steps with him in person by going on a 4 hour 13 mile walk and just talk about life and get a tour of the neighborhood. When I think of Uncle Kevin things come to mind that I am sure you all would say as well. He was welcoming, he gave the biggest hugs, he had the most infectious laugh. He could sit down for hours and have a conversation about almost anything. From his family, a vacation, his work, his latest encounter over the phone with a telemarketer, this great deal he found, or just ask you what was new with you and listen and give advice. All one needed to be entertained was a table, some chairs, a deck of cards, and uncle Kevin. I am pretty sure my strategy and puzzle mind I was taught and inherited from my Dad but I think my passion for playing cards comes from Uncle Kevin. It is amazing how many people tell me I always win. That reputation I think comes from luck, but primarily from my lifetime of Christmases and vacations with Uncle Kevin. Love you Uncle Kevin! You are missed!

I will always cherish the gift of having Kevin Collins in my life. I believe you meet people for a reason and I know I met Kevin Collins to make me a better man and father. Kevin and I walked together over a thousand times on trails in Fullerton and Northern Orange County. When you walk with someone that many times and for that long, you really get to know a person. Kevin placed family first every time, every way and in every waking moment. He loved spending time and organizing events with friends and family. Kevin would make you and everyone he met feel welcomed and at peace. He would wear bright shirts and shorts accompanied by a large straw hat. When Kevin came walking toward you, it was impossible not to mirror his smile. As bright as his outfits looked, they paled in comparison to the beautiful soul that was Kevin Collins. Since Kevin’s passing, I see his spirit every day and I am reminded of his love and kindness to me and my family. When the Collin’s and the Lack’s got together we had so much fun! From organizing our first joint family cruise to Mexico; To cruising Alaska where breaching wales, swimming bears and eagles mating went well with chocolate lava cakes; Arranging golf outings for us and our sons that always included some memorable shots; To walking a mile and half through a sandstorm to a green sand beach in Hawaii that turned out to be clothing optional, quite the surprise for Craig’s birthday; To sitting on a plastic chair at the edge of the ocean in Puerta Vallarta watching Kyra and Kelsey play making sure the tide was calm; Hanging out in our pool enjoying a sunny day and a gin and tonic. When we needed Kevin, he was always there. Bringing me an adult beverage as I waited at St Jude while my wife had her second surgery of the day; Picking up our dog from the kennel and waiting with him by the window so we would see his wagging tail as we returned from a trip; Taking care of Kelsey when a family emergency brought us back to Ohio; Teaching me how to cook BBQ ribs so the meat falls off the bone. On our walks Kevin’s advice made me smarter and kinder to friends and family. We would sometimes get off course and visit open houses; real estate agents looked at us like we were not the type of buyer they were searching for (Kevin in his bright outfit, me in my sweats), but Kevin would have them laughing before we left. Kevin had such a friendly nature, relationships were important to him. Kevin would greet me before our walks with “how you doing?” Today, I would tell him I miss him every day and was honored to have known him. I realize what a blessing it was to spend so much time with such a wonderful man. Kevin collapsed on a walking trail in Fullerton on a sunny day, wearing a brightly colored outfit and his big straw hat. He was accompanied by his beautiful and loving wife Tiffany, Kathy and me. Walk in peace Kevin. At the end of the trail, I will see your smile, bright orange shirt, giant straw hat and give you a big bear hug and tell you I’m doing fine now.
