Kenneth Ray Sandstrom Ken Sandstrom born on April 30, 1933 in Euclid, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and savior on December 11, 2024.

Preceded in death by his parents Thure and Florence Sandstrom, and his sister Carole Nevar. Also predeceased by beloved wife of 37 years MaryAnn.

Ken spent his early years in the Cleveland area, where he graduated from Euclid High School and found his love of sailing on Lake Erie. He attended Ohio State University, followed by serving his country in the Air Force. After moving to Marietta with his family in 1967, he worked in the manufacturing and construction trades. In the 1990’s he and MaryAnn moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where they embarked on their dream of opening a home to help those recovering from substance abuse. Named in honor of their savior, “Our Father’s House” opened its doors to many souls in need of a helping hand. While living in St Petersburg he worked as a home remodeler and boat builder for Viking Yachts. Upon returning to Marietta, he continued devoting his life to God, and faithfully attended the Celebration Center, where he found comfort and a welcoming community.

He is survived by his children Eric (Anne) of Upper Arlington, Kurt of Marietta, and Sandi (John) Martin of Marietta; grandchildren Sarah (David) Clark, Trent and Ethan Sandstrom, and Gary McCoy; and great-grandson Maverick Clark.

A private memorial service will be held, with a future celebration of life to be announced.

A private cremation will take place at Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.

I met Ken when he and his wife came to speak at our garden club meeting. He talked about their patch flower garden behind their place and showed pictures. That was the beginning of a friendship I cherish and I took his ideas to help my backyard hill. It never was as beautiful or will be as beautiful as his. I continued to visit them and attended their renewing of their vows. When he moved to North Point I’d stop and visit while we’d work on a puzzle. We’d talk about plants and I’d bring flowers 🌺 I have a small paper cut Christmas tree with birds to bring to him. Wish I could have delivered it to him and see his smile once more but he’s opened his last and best Christmas present, being with his wife and his Lord and savior for ever🎄❤️ Jeanne Schaad
