Over 2 years now and I still listen to your voicemails. It hasn't gotten any easier. So many things I want to talk to you about. I keep thinking back to the month before you left us. If I had just realized that you were sick, maybe things would have been different. I know I can't blame myself, but I have trouble with the "what-if" thoughts. Anyway, I know you are always nearby. I see the signs. I love you and miss you so much.

The last picture of you. I never really believed it would end this way. I always thought all your vitamins would’ve saved you in the end. I guess we were both living in a fantasy. Every time I come home, I’m reminded you’re not here. I’m waiting for the day when home won’t hurt anymore.

We still think of you. It has been six months now, and we still mourn you.

The first memory I have of Kelly was when he dropped off Krystal at my house in Pinole. We were probably around 12 years old at the time. I’m pretty sure he wore his signature overalls and a hat. He brought a big bag of oranges and lots of frozen garlic sausages for my family. I remember going over to their house and Kelly would always give us money to order Round Table pizza. We always ordered a combination pizza for him. There was a time where I had no where to live. Kelly offered his home to me and let me stay there. If he hadn’t done that, I don’t know how my life would be today. Kelly was loving to all, extremely giving and wise. Everyone knows that his sole purpose of living was for his girls, Krystal and Angel. He loved them tremendously and would do just about anything for them. They were his whole world. I love you Kelly and am extremely thankful for having you in my life. “Song sung blue…..”

I was reminded of a memory of Kelly just yesterday. As I carved our Thanksgiving turkey, I cut myself which reminded me of an incident that Kelly helped me with as a child. This cut took me back to when I was 11 or 12, slicing my hand on a broken glass while washing dishes. Alone at home, panicked, my immediate call was to Kelly. He reassured me, guiding me through wound care, embodying his dependable and calming nature that I always cherished. My family and I miss him terribly but I know his spirit will live on in Krystal and Angel.
