January 29th, 1968 - August 25th, 2024
Keith Randall Pressman of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on August 25, 2024, in Miami Beach, Florida at the age of 56. He had lived in Miami Beach for the past 14 years, finding joy in its vibrant community and beautiful surroundings. After undergoing two major surgeries—one in late 2023 and another in early 2024, he bravely fought through complications that his body could no longer withstand. Throughout it all, Keith displayed remarkable courage and maintained his sense of humor, bringing light to even the darkest moments. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his Sister, Lyn Pressman Mueller and Brother-in-law, Michael Mueller.
As many people know, Keith had a severe car accident in 1985 during the fall of his senior year of high school, which left him with a lifelong spinal cord injury. After rehabilitation, he returned to school and completed his high school education.
He then attended Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. After graduating, he taught high school in Tempe, Arizona, and later pursued a master's degree at the University of Miami. Following that, he taught high school in Miami and also coached the girls soccer team.
In 1999, he returned to Virginia and taught high school at the New School of Northern Virginia.
In 2011, Keith decided it was time to return to warm weather and moved to Miami Beach. He started an educational consulting business and became involved with Success University, an after-school program designed to help low- to moderate-income teenagers prepare for higher education or training. Initially, he volunteered with the program while working towards securing a grant. Keith was recognized with an award from the Miami Beach Service Board for outstanding service as a college advisor.
Keith had a passion for travel, which he did extensively. His other interests included sports, music, reading and the outdoors; often kayaking or biking whenever he had the chance.

From every childhood Christmas- Ida Mae's cinnamon buns, midnight mass, and the best gifts- to adventures around DC, fireworks, trips to Fripp and heated debates.... My mom always called you a hero- and you definitely were. Thank you for being an inspiration to us all. We will miss you, big cousin.

Mark and I would like to share a special memory on behalf of Pop AKA-Army Colonel (Ret.) Harold Mueller. Pop always enjoyed carving the Thanksgiving turkey in Mike and Lyn's kitchen while Keith would supervise. Finally, when someone would create a diversion, Keith would snap up some of the turkey skin and quickly put it in his mouth as Pop looked away 🤫When Pop returned to carving the turkey everyone looked on giggling because Keith snuck some of the turkey skin without being discovered by the master carver! 🥳 Rest in Peace Keith! Keith and I had many memorable moments together but this one ranks first among equals:: Hanging out backstage with Ronnie Wood, his then-wife Jo, and Bo Diddley (not pictured) when the Gunslingers tour came to Phoenix in 1987. You can see what the experience means to Keith—his eyes and smile tell the whole story. What isn’t captured in this pic is how Woody and Jo and Bo were all charmed by Keith, who held court as if HE were on tour…His presence was that commanding, his knowledge of music was that encyclopedic, his charm was that irresistible…This photo has sat on my dresser for decades—Keith and his infectious smile greet me every morning and, in the most challenging of times, exhort me to keep going:: with joy, with hope, with courage, with love…

I knew Keith from third grade onward when he joined my soccer team and came to Drew Elementary with me. We knew each other for such a long time that by high school we had a strong connection. Keith had a special energy and an engagement with life that made him fun to know. He handled the adversity of his injury with grace and resilience. The world was more interesting with Keith in it--he is missed.
