“Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there. It doesn't matter what you do, he said, so long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that's like you after you take your hands away." - Ray Bradbury

Our dear Mr Keith passed away very suddenly in the early hours of Saturday, 13 August 2022. It was so completely unexpected. Over the last few years Mr K had refused to let the leukaemia, problems with his eyes and then carcinoma on his nose, get in the way of his zest for life. Right up to the end Keith had been living life to the full – only the weekend before he died we were in Glastonbury for a concert in the Abbey Grounds with Seasick Steve performing. He loved music and theatre and art. He was creative, talented, kind, wise but, what we will all remember about him, was his wonderful sense of humour and dry wit. Keith built his life around what he loved and he loved a challenge - whether at work, in theatre or events, or at home. He made presents for us all, built houses and knocked down walls to turn those houses into homes. He built boats both land-bound for kids or sea-bound for himself. We only moved to Broadstairs 2 years ago but he simply adored this garden and was always busy with some project, pottering in the greenhouse or shed. He was generous and kind hearted. He was our rock – always there for us. He never let anything hold him or us back. He was the most amazing husband, father and grandfather. Throughout his life, Keith connected with so many people mostly over glass of wine or a pint. On tour he had a knack of going out and finding the best bar in the area where everyone would go and meet up. That is what he loved most, sitting around, chatting and laughing with good friends over a drink or a meal, and those are the memories that will live on. We will miss him every day. He was one of those people who had no idea how wonderful he was and just wandered around making the world a better place. So we have set up this website to capture the stories and memories we all have of this special man. It would be wonderful if you could add your contributions using the ‘comments’ box at the bottom of this page and we have also posted lots of photos under ‘mementoes’.

You'll also see below a link to our just giving page where we are raising money for Cancer research in memory of Keith, and a link to a Spotify playlist.

I can't think of Keith without thinking of Ellie. When I was on my own in London, i felt they were always looking out for me. He was half of a whole and that half will be sorely missed. Keith could turn his hand to anything, as an artist (I still have one of his paintings) or handyman to manning the BBQ and making sure your glass was never empty. Keith built the sun deck at the back of my house and we celebrated with an obligatory glass of rose on a hot summer's day. Here's to you, Keith, with lots of love. These words pay scant tribute to a wonderful man as I sit here in tears as I write this. xx

Keith welcomed all of us youngsters to their many extremely well decorated homes (Keith was always the top dad of DIY). I was highly envious of Keith and Ellie's laid back approach to having us all in their house for endless sleepovers, parties whenever we could get away it, and trips to Gozo that I'll never forget. I'll always be grateful for Keith not telling me off when I drove the car into a wall in Gozo... and his discretion over the disconnected toilet incident! You will be missed by us all.

Unlike many of you on this page, I only got to know Keith later in his life. It was privilege to have known him over the last 15 years. He bought nothing but light into my life. Keith may have left us but nothing will remove the many happy memories. The belly laughs, the humour, the wit! Keith may have left us but I am still laughing about “the plank” in Gozo. (Only Ellie and Jen will remember that). He has gone. He will be missed. I will remember the many happy days spent in his company. He has left us yes. But left us all with so many happy memories. A life well lived and memories that will remain. RIP our lovely friend. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

A very memorable month on one of them Hughes tours ( I think it was called) for Opel we started in Italy two venues then into Greece & finally Turkey The photo along with Craig Parsons was at the hotel in Greece can’t remember the name but up just south of Salonica not ideal for what we were doing but owned by a relative of the main man for Opel in Greece! We set up in the bar area & soon found out everything was going to be free whilst carrying stage weights from the truck to stage & having large beers thrust upon us! My best memory of Mr Keith is a couple of lunchtimes later of him standing on the beech throwing stones into the water & saying to me as I walked up to him “ if I’m offered another free beer I’m going to walk out & head for home just keep on walking I am”. I think we found quite a few good bars over the years but the one in Berlin by the Intercontinental stands out because Mr Keith found a decent drinking establishment that was located in Keithstrasse

More memories of Mr Keith. I He was clever and creative, and the attached pic is of a toolbox he decorated for my 50th Birthday. Over the years, there have been many occasions and examples of Keith’s creativity and ingenuity. Whether it was building a stage out of beer crates in a tent in Marrakesh, and lighting the show using what we could rent locally ( he complained the lighting desk had a dip in the middle and was told a camel had stood on it, but he made it work anyway), to building a complete conference set for the Palais de Congres in Cannes in my back garden in the South of France, it was always enjoyable with the prospect of a few beers in the evening. There are many more stories, but the one thing that I am really proud of is that he was my friend.
