Katie Louise McLaughlin passed away on November 7th at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Vancouver with her parents, Aimee and Anthony by her side. Katie was born on August 24th, 2014.
Katie was born with a rare disease and was constantly fighting the odds to survive and share her light with those around her. Katie was a 3rd-grade student at Lord Selkirk Elementary in Vancouver. She was happiest when surrounded by her brothers, many cousins and classmates. Katie had the special ability to lift up all those around her with her smiles and giggles. Katie loved balloons, lights of all kinds, stories, unicorns and her dog, Maddie. She touched so many in her short life and her family is forever grateful to everyone who worked with Katie and supported their family.
Katie is survived by her parents, Aimee and Anthony, and brothers, Harry and Jack and her large extended family. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Katie’s honour.

Katie was such a beautiful little girl and so happy. I remember her at the Mather cottage on Lake Simcoe enjoying being outside and surrounded by laughter and chaos of all the other little kids. She knew how much she was loved and we are all better for knowing her. Her memory will live on with me forever. Sending you all love and hugs. I wish we could be together. XOXO
