Kathleen "Kathy" Todd
September 5th, 1951 - September 23rd, 2026
September 5th, 1951 - September 23rd, 2026
”Mom,” “Grandma,” “Crazy Aunt Kathy,” sister, friend — she answered to all of them, and lived each role to the fullest.
Our beloved Kathy passed away on September 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer that spanned nearly 10 years. What was once breast cancer in 2016, turned into radiation-induced angiosarcoma in 2022, which she powered through with multiple surgeries and chemo treatments. She was so full of love for her family and friends and wanted nothing more than to be here for and with them. She passed peacefully with her daughter, Amanda, by her side, after several days of comfortable and very well-deserved rest.
We’ll share more about Kathy’s life and plans for a celebration of her life in the days ahead. For now, we hope this page can become a collection of the stories, photographs and memories that made Kathy so special. Please share yours below.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support you have given Kathy and our family throughout her journey.

How did you meet Kathleen?
Kathy, Bob, and Amanda were my dear neighbors for many years! I watched Amanda grow up and loved sharing many happy times with the Todds. Kathy was a wonderful wife, mom, and friend to all of us at Park Meadow Way in Coppell, Tx. Loved her laugh and many gifted talents she had and shared with us. In sweet memories! Kathy was a wonderful friend and neighbor. She always had a kind word, a smile and her generosity was endless. When my mom passed away in 2018 she organized a memorial in my house for her. Mom lived with me for 4 years & Kathy said the neighbors loved spending time with her at the monthly luncheons. Her funeral was in NY so I hadn’t planned to do anything here. Well Kathy wouldn’t hear of it!!! Our friendship was sealed in gold that day! I am happy Kathy’s suffering is over although there will always be a hole on Southerland Drive that no one else can fill.

Before saying anything else, Kathy has my everlasting love and gratitude for bringing into this world and raising an amazing daughter, my daughter-in-law Amanda. When I think of Kathy the first thing that always comes to mind is her laughter and her smile. Both were always at the ready, and she always set the tone in the room with her happy, cheerful disposition and stories. I always admired Kathy’s perseverance and optimism. In her mind there was never an obstacle that couldn’t be overcome, and she was always happy to offer suggestions on how to do so! Kathy had an incredible capacity to love. Once Amanda’s husband Richard became a presence in their family, Kathy immediately embraced our entire family. In no time we were at the Todd’s house for cocktails, dinner, and all the latest board / card games. That evolved into almost 25 years of sharing holidays, events, or ‘just a day that ends with ‘y’’ together. That love may have been exhibited the most in her love for Amanda, Richard, and her grandchildren. She was always there for them, always supportive of them…the love was undeniable. I am especially grateful for the way she embraced Richard: She accepted him and loved him almost as if he were her own. Another example of her love: She was an amazing caregiver for Bob in his latter years. He was blessed to have had her with him. And speaking of supportive, Kathy loved her some K-State and some KC Chiefs! I think she felt they paired well with her favorite boxed wine! Kathy will always be loved, remembered and missed. May she rest in peace.

RIP Kathy. I thought of you often. I hate we never got together post retirement.

Kathy and I were separated in age by 7 years so our early years weren't as close as I would have liked. She was my big Sis who knew everything, who would confront neighborhood bullies, played Beatles music non-stop on the jukebox in the basement and drove off to Aggieville (K-State) in Grandma's 1960 Chevy Impala. Even at 10 years old that was a sight to see. She was influential in my decision to join the Air Force to pursue a flying career. Though age separated us more than geography our younger years, geography separated us more than age in our older years. Kathy was there for the important events in my life, graduations, weddings, family reunions, etc. Since Our Mom died at a young age I turned to Kathy for the wisdom growing older, raising kids, dealing with life's hardships, dealing with Dad and understanding what it means to be a Hosterman. She kept me informed on extended family happenings and educated me on family history. We would spar over politics, laugh over boxed wine and reminisce over memories of the past. Kathy was my wise sage I would seek out to talk about nothing at all or something more deep, regardless, I always felt better after talking to Kathy. I'm going to miss the long talks with big Sis. Im going to miss Kathy. God rest her soul!
