Memorial

Mementos

The Carleton community is mourning the loss of Julie St. Jean, who passed away suddenly on Oct. 28. Julie was 64 years old.

Julie was a long-time member of the Human Resources team as the Manager of Payroll. She was well-known across the campus as a go-to person. Her sense of humour, love of travel and family were important to Julie, and shaped how she approached her work and life, in general.

Although Julie retired from Carleton in 2018 after almost 38 years at the university, she returned to lend a helping hand this past summer. Julie  finished her assignment at the end of September.

She will be missed by all her colleagues at Carleton, many of whom she mentored and trained over the course of their careers.

Sending my deepest condolences to Julie’s family and the Carleton community, especially the HR team. I had the very good fortune of working with Julie and she was a rock! No matter how high the demands or the paperwork, she put people first and was a great advisor and guide. May she rest in peace.

I have been a neighbour of Paul and Julie for 30 years. My heart goes out to Paul, his children and grandson for the loss of such a loving wife, mom and grandma. It was so heartwarming to read all the wonderful entries on this site regarding Julie's professional life, a side of her I didn't know. She will be very much missed.

Julie is my cousin by marriage and she was always so welcoming and made everybody feel at home. She always had a smile on her face and boy could she throw a party. Don't ask her if you could help she had it covered!! I aspired to be as self assured as she was, Andy and i send our condolences and prayers for Paul, Cassandra, Colin and I"m sure many family members. Hope to see you soon and give you all a covid hug ()

Julie was always a go to person to fix a problem and always did it with a smile and a laugh. Every day I had to work with Julie she made that day brighter. She will be truly missed by her colleagues at Carleton
