1942 - 2020
We will gather together to celebrate her life at the appropriate time. Please leave a memory below and include your email address so that we can contact you when the time is right. Until then, we encourage you to honor and remember Judy by living each day to the fullest with joy.
Judy was a woman who lived life to the fullest. Her "larger than life" personality had a lasting effect on all who were fortunate to know her. Her greatest joy was to share all that life has to offer with her friends and family.
Born in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Judy lived in her beloved City of Chicago for 60 years. Together with her husband Dennis who passed in 2016, they experienced life together with passion and integrity. They were always up for conversation over a bottle of good wine. Judy's calendar was always full with early flea market finds, lunch at one of her many favorite hang outs, afternoon Jeopardy with friends, the Chicago Symphony in the evening, the Bears game on Sunday, and then off on another trip to Amsterdam or Paris.
Judy was true to her word and quick with her wit. She was always ready to take you along for life's adventures with her smile, infectious laugh, and positive energy leading the way. There are many family and friends across the globe who are mourning the loss of this incredible, generous, and loving person.

I am so fortunate to have met Dennis and Judy. They have taught me so much and have been two of the most generous and fun loving people I have ever met. Your friend forever, Mike Wollet, Wauwatosa, WI

Selecting one photo for this tribute is one of the hardest things - whenever Judy and Dennis were gathering with our family, there were always adventures, laughs, good food and lots of love. We've often referred to them as our girls' "bonus grandparents" since Dennis and Judy added so much to their lives by showing them Broadway musicals, exotic foods, art museums, a Chicago Cubs / Wrigley Field tour, on and on; this is from the Lincoln Park Zoo Botanical Garden area on our winter visit in December, 2010. Their knowledge of the city made us "tourists" feel at home with them! We loved both of them so much and cannot imagine coming out of our covid-restrictions and not being able to go to L Woods for lunch. Judy came to our house for an outside cookout in June, 2020 and my last visit with her was August 27 at her place. Oh how I'm so glad I got to tell her one more time how much we loved her. She sent us off with "can't wait to have lunch again with you soon!" So grateful for memories and for these two amazing people. With Love, Justine, Melanie, Beth and Wade

Happy Thanksgiving. This is the time when I am remembering Judy. When we were single she suggested she and I make cookies and take them to a veteran’s facility to celebrate with them. Then she and Dennis were go to a restaurant/bar to serve meals to those in need.

Remembering my friend, Judy, today…

Merry Christmas This is time of the year when I especially remember Judy and Denny. Christmas was their speciality. The first weekend in December was their tree trimming party. There was so much food...some brought from others.. but mostly made by Judy when she took time off work to prepare for the party. There was such a variety of people. Those we saw every year. It was just good to see them again. Then there were people that Judy and Dennis had befriended that year. People they may have travelled with all over the world. And then there was the children. Our two...John and Anne..grew up being at the party. Other children belonged to friends and we watched them grow. And when Santa came with gifts, that was the most fun. So let us lift our drinks for a toast to Judy and Denny and all the wonderful memories we have of those years. Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year to all, especially Roger and Stacy and Jordan and Kirsten Speicher.

I met Judy at the Law Offices of Leydig, Voit & Mayer in June 2003 where we both worked. We immediately became great friends. We shared so many fun lunches together - even after Judy retired, we would meet for lunch. After I retired we continued our lunches together. I looked forward to taking the train into Chicago for my twice-monthly luncheon with Judy. Meeting at the Walnut Room at Christmas time became a holiday tradition for us. It was such fun. We occasionally went to art museums and opera together. Although Judy had many close friends, I considered her my best friend. The Covid-19 pandemic interrupted our lunches together. When Judy passed away so suddenly I really felt that I did not have a chance to say goodbye to my dear friend. I mention her in my prayers every day. Judy was a true friend. I will miss her forever.
