Forever in our Hearts

Judith Ann Bennett Aschehoug, 82, of Granite Bay, California passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2026, at home after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. Services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Judith was born on September 6th, 1943, in West Des Moines, Iowa, to Bruce and Hazel Bennett. After graduating from Valley High School in 1961, Judith attended Northern Iowa University. She met her husband, Trond Aschehoug, in Ames, Iowa, and they married in 1967 at her parents' home.

Judith’s family was her joy. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved playing with her grandkids and enjoyed their many different activities. She was always ready to watch another soccer, hockey, or baseball game! Judith’s gardening and horses were special to her, and kept her close to her roots in Iowa farming.

Judith is survived by her husband Trond; daughter Heidi Jo (Kevin) Aschehoug of Fair Oaks, California; son Erik Trond (Daisy) Aschehoug of Nesodden, Norway; daughter Jill Marie (Vince) Aschehoug of Granite Bay, California; sister Jean Engstrom of Stratford, Iowa; sister Sandra Schroeder of Olivia, Minnesota; brother Brian Bennett of West Des Moines, Iowa; and her grandchildren Gabrielle Aschehoug, Samuel Gallo, Michael Gallo, Woody Aschehoug, Violet Gallo, Lincoln Aschehoug, and great-granddaughter Isla Aschehoug. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Judith is missed immensely.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to FieldHaven Feline Center in Lincoln, California. www.fieldhaven.com

Anne Kristin Aschehoug

I am so sorry that I can’t be there to honor Judy’s life and mark her passing with you. I will think of you and remember aunt Judy’s big heart that loved so fiercely, her contagious laughter, vivid storytelling, and creativity. And for introducing me to Janet Evanovich’s books. Rest in peace and fun, aunt Judy.
