She was a pillar of strength and grace, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her. Joy’s departure is mourned deeply by her beloved family and friends.

Born on June 15, 1945, Joy was the daughter of Thomas Bryan Bottom and Armettia Leone Bottom. From an early age, she exhibited a vibrant spirit and an unwavering dedication to helping others. Her warm heart and infectious smile made her a beacon of light in any room she entered. Joy's selflessness knew no bounds, as she always put the needs of others before her own.

As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Joy was a guiding force, providing endless love, encouragement, and guidance to her family. She cherished every moment spent with them, instilling in them the values of kindness, empathy, and perseverance. Joy's nurturing nature and unconditional love will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, who will carry her legacy forward.

Joy's warmth and compassion extended to her professional life, where she dedicated herself to making a positive impact. Her career as a Financial Professional allowed her to touch the lives of countless individuals, offering comfort and support in their times of need. Joy's dedication and unwavering commitment to her work will forever be remembered.

In her free time, Joy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling in the RV, meeting new people, being with her animals, and playing an active role in her community.

Joy’s departure leaves a void that cannot be filled. However, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Roper; her children, Stephanie and Shad; her grandchildren, Alex and Dustin; her siblings, Lotus, Gary, and Debbie; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Thinking about you today Aunt Joy, I remember how exciting it was when you guys would pull up to visit in your RV. Where ever we were you always managed to make it out and it was the best of times. I miss your random messages checking up on me. I wish I could go back even for a second. I will always cherish the memories. I know you and grandpa are up there laughing and have the grandest of times. I love you

I remember when Joy had Polio as a baby and she and mom were airlifted from Durango, by military airplane, to Children’s Hospital in Denver, around 1946. Children stricken with Polio were taken to Children’s Hospital, Colorado General or St. Anne’s so they could be isolated, treated and recovered. Treatments then consisted of hot-packs and massages to afflicted limbs and even the Iron Lung for those that needed aid with breathing. Joy remained in the hospital for several weeks and it may have even been a few months until mom finally received the good news that she was well enough to come home. Fortunately, she didn’t suffer any permanent paralysis, as many children did at that time. We were all so very happy once she was home. I believe, at some point, mom and grandma even assisted the nurses in the hospital as there was a severe blizzard that prevented them from returning home for quite a while. This photo of Joy and I is around the same time Joy contracted Polio. I thought you all may not know about this since Joy was so very young at the time and probably had little memory of it. Miss you baby sister. You’re forever in my heart!

I miss you, grandma. You mean the world to me and I miss you terribly. Most days are a struggle and it’s feels surreal that you aren’t here. I love you so much and I can’t wait to see you again.

Mom, I love you! Know there will not be a day that will go by where I won't think of you. I will miss our daily calls, always when I am driving home from work or anytime in the car :) Thank you for always answering. I can't believe you are not here with me in this world now, I always thought we would have another 10 to 15 years. I know you will be with me always in spirit, my angel. I am comforted knowing you are with your mom and dad and all your animals - you loved them all more than anything. I promise to be a better person, following your foot steps, helping others and loving all no matter the situation. You were the best mom! My rock and my best friend. I love you forever and can't wait to see you again. XOXOXO
