Josh celebrated life and always went out of his way to make people feel special. Some of our favourite memories were of him painting Eden and Indie’s face at the Super Bowl party this year and every occasion before that. Our girls loved that and the final results were interesting, haha! He always made the kids feel so special and would go along with their crazy ideas. Another favourite memory is all of our halloweens at our house. He would dress up for Halloween, matching Lively or George’s costume, and was always a ball of fun - getting all the Dads to dress as animals last year! He will be so missed, especially at all of our Homebase get togethers! We are thankful for the Hope of Heaven and until we see him again our hearts and prayers will be with Ashley, Lively, George and the families! - Julie and Andrew Baxter (& Eden and Indie)

Although we’ve only known Josh a shorter period of time than many, our lives have been deeply impacted by his kindness and generosity. Both inside and outside work, Josh was quick to encourage and advocate for me — a mentor and friend. The day before Josh’s passing, we joined them and our home base on a family picnic. While many of us adults were sitting around chatting, Josh was off to the side playing with all of our kiddos. Sitting on a nearby tractor, Heidi counted 6 kids including our son Franklin on his lap — they were absolutely in awe of the fun that Josh was making for them and having the time of their lives. Thank you Josh for your mentorship, for always welcoming our family with open arms, for being an incredible encourager. We are forever impacted by you.

Josh was such an incredible husband and father. I’ve never seen a husband love a wife so well. We all know Ashley loves to celebrate and “eventize” life and Josh was always up for it, matching her step for step. And he was game for any antics Ash brought his way – including the HILARIOUS promo videos for Base church. I’ll truly miss his playful, good-natured teasing of her—it was the best! As a dad, Josh was full of life. He didn’t just chat with the other dads at the kids' birthday parties; he dove right in, offering face painting, playing games, and making sure everyone felt included. He always knew how to make my little girl smile, especially when she was feeling shy. Josh had a remarkable ability to sense when someone needed a little extra support, and he was quick to provide it. His generosity was unmatched. Josh will be deeply missed. I will especially miss seeing how incredibly happy he made my dear friend.

When we think of Josh we can't help but smile :) He was so genuine and honest in conversation, making us laugh time and time again. His love for Ashley was evident in how he always said "yes" to her fun ideas and adventures! His love for Lively and George was evident in how he cuddled and played with them! He loved Jesus. He loved golf. We loved that he always had a high-five or fist-bump ready for Quincey. Josh was an absolute joy to be around, his genuiness was a breath of fresh air. Janelle + Bryce + Quincey Mac

I attended Base Church for a period of 6 months in 2019. I moved away to a different community, but Josh and his wife Ashley were incredibly welcoming to me at a time of immense change and vulnerability. He was always so friendly and welcoming to church and I always remember his warm smile. I only met him about three times but the fact that I remember his kindness says a lot. I am so grateful for your kindness Josh and I will be keeping your family in my prayers. May you walk with Jesus with peace and love in Heaven.

Josh was a truly remarkable friend. He was a man of incredible generosity, always the first to lend a hand or share what we had. Josh also had a gift for celebration. He knew how to turn any occasion into a memorable event, filling the room with laughter with his sharp and infectious sense of humour. We’ll miss his larger-than-life personality and the way he brought us all together. He left an incredible mark on our lives, and will be truly missed.
