Joshua Moon

I first met Josh through the gospel choir at school and when I took over Josh very kindly still helped us out by making backing tracks and accompanying us at some competitions despite having left school years before and having plenty of other stuff on his plate. I remember one time he was playing for us at Music For Youth and I asked him to learn a new song for it. I sent him the track we had but for some reason not the sheet music. It got to rehearsal and unsurprisingly he didn’t just replicate what I’d sent, he played it better, much better. Chatting to him afterwards I thanked him for taking the time to learn it and it somehow the topic of sheet music came up. He commented that he would’ve used the sheet music if he’d had it but instead of complaining (despite my idiocy) he just said something like ‘oh well, good chance to practice learning by ear’… not that he needed it! Josh was incredibly patient, humble and a constant encourager. He was so selfless and had talent like no other. There really was none like him.
